Dion Waiters

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dion looking pretty bad in this game so far. Still not convinced he's having anything more than a hot streak on OKC right now even though I do hope he thrives.

He's been relegated to standing behind the 3-point line while Reggie Jackson takes over. Eerily similar to what he was doing here. More than anything, he has a hard time inserting himself within the flow of the offense.

You can't sleep on the guy though.

When it comes down to it, the situation here was probably irreparable. The Cavs kept yanking Dion around, and never made it clear what his role was going to be. On the other hand, I don't think (speculation on my part) Dion was ever going to come to grips with being behind Kyrie in the pecking order.

Still it's not terrible that OKC expects him to sometimes play off the ball. Dion can't have the ball in his hands 24/7 especially on a team with KD and Russ. I'm not talking to you when I say this but it blows my mind that people seemingly think Dion deserves nothing less than being the primary ball handler every time he's on the floor.

So this is the first game I've watched Dion since the trade...looks like Cleveland Dion to me. Standing around, no movement unless he has the ball, if he misses or doesn't recieve a shot attempt he still looks to be pouting. Besides a few hot games, which he had also went thru spurts occasionally in Cleveland, what's different?

Exactly my thoughts. This is who Dion is. He'll have hot shooting games and then he'll have complete clunkers.

"This is who he is" @ age 23 in his 3rd year lol. I think I'll take a break from RCF

The Cavs kept Kyrie over Dion because they still(with fingers crossed behind their back) hope he can shake his natural urges and become a playmaker with the ball. His ceiling is higher, but he may never reach it while Dion's ceiling is more obtainable with a organization that gives a shit about him, which imo is equal value to Kyrie. No harm nor foul. If the Cavs had traded Kyrie, people would have had a fit if he blew up to a superstar pg with another team.

Dion clearly was ribbing Kyrie by the "I got to touch the ball meme".

Dude, I loved Dion and all, but Kyrie's floor is higher than Dion's ceiling. Let's be fucking real here.

Let's be real here. Consistency has been his problem since he came into this league. Now it's true he could improve that considering his relative youth, but honestly I just don't see that happening. Dion is a streaky shooter who can't finish well at the rim. Imo he'll always be inconsistent a la JR Smith.
