He's had 5 in 5 years. Each one tried to make him a starter, but eventually realized he was best off the bench.
To take this a step further...
Coach #1 is an all-time college great who is also an assistant for the U.S. national team.
Coach #2 is a multiple time NBA champion
at Dion's position who both Chris Paul and Kyrie Irving greatly credit for their rapid development.
Coach #3 had been to the NBA finals and got LeBron James himself to start caring about defense and hustle.
Coach #4 has as deep a knowledge of the game as anyone in the world, is a European legend, and coached the Russian national team to a bronze in the last olympics.
Coach #5 was a guard in the NBA who stuck around because of his defensive grit, basketball iq, and sheer hustle/work ethic.
It was easy to say Jim B. simply favored his older players because of loyalty. It's easy to claim Byron was here to collect a check (and in some ways he was, but he didn't fail willing players in a mentorship role). It' easy to claim Mike Brown and Scott Brooks are awful X's and O's coaches who only got by on superstar talent. It's easy to claim David Blatt is a rookie who doesn't understand the NBA and the players within it.
The common denominator is Dion. It took me until this year to believe it.
