Dwyane Wade Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes. We talked about it during the Christmas game.

I call bullshit. :chuckle: (From Feb. 19th, 2015)

Nah man. Wade will retire on the Heat. Everyone in the region knows Wade is going nowhere. If he's still playing basketball, he'll be playing for nowhere near what he's making now.

He's already taken 2 paycuts for the Heat, this last one being substantial. There is just no reason at all to think Wade bolts for more money. He'll take even less in 2016 if he still wants to play.

Who the hell opts out of 16 million a year, to sign a contract starting under 9 million a year.

The rumor was that they wanted him to opt in this year at 16, then sign for 10 mil a year for two more years.

I think he (1) doesn't want to sign for that cheap, and (2) doesn't believe they will actually offer it then.

By the way.....I hate all the morons who saw a fistful of people on TV burning LeBron jerseys and now they think all Cavs fans are LeBron nuthugging bandwaggoners.

True Cavs fans were here long before LeBron.

Respect.

True.

But I never liked the idea of burning jerseys. Its something which happens in soccer as well.

I'm starting to agree with this. I don't think he's coming, because at the end of the day, I think Riley caves and pays him.

There's a report out there that Riley and the Heat were going to offer Dragic less than the max. Maybe to accommodate Wade? I don't know. I doubt Dragic agrees to that anyway.

But, if Riley is hellbent on not paying Wade, who is he to spite the guy too? Some nerve if he's willing to do that, to a guy that's given that franchise everything.

This isn't the case where Wade is saying fuck you, I want out, the hell with you. He's saying pay me my money, that I rightfully deserve, or I'm done.

But I think Wade will get his way. Because this can get really, really ugly for Riley, and I don't think it makes him look good at all, if he really goes down that ugly path of fighting Wade and looking like just a spiteful wrinkled old man in expensive suits.

Some people think Wade has no leverage. I think he has all of it, personally. Riley is the one that doesn't have any, he's just trying to use his persuasive skills to get his way, and the act is starting to become outdated.

At the end of the day, if Wade is going to walk, both sides are, does Riley want to be a stubborn bastard and not at least get something as compensation?

100% correct. Wade absolutely has all the leverage in this situation. He can opt out and leave Miami with nothing (and either sign with a contender or get paid somewhere else). He can opt-in, play out next season, and bolt with Miami getting nothing. He can opt-in and be a disgruntled player that gave the franchise three rings but wants out. Or, Miami caves and gives him his money. If Wade wants to just get paid, I'm sure someone is willing to dump some money in his lap.

No good comes out of this for Riley and the Heat unless he pays Wade or trades him. It'd be a huge black eye for him from a player relations stand point. You can't let LeBron and Wade walk in consecutive seasons and get nothing for them simply out of spite. Ultimately, if Wade wants to leave, you trade him and get whatever you can.

Neither I nor the person I heard it from can be considered credible sources, but he's been told that Wade bought a house in Strongsville.

Wait.. didn't I tell you via PM that I thought Wade could come to Cleveland? Lol..

I've been saying this same thing for a long time; but, even just 3 days ago I said it was highly unlikely.

I'll say it one more time: Wade does not want to play in Cleveland.

What we're seeing is (1) part negotiation tactic; (2) plan B being set in motion in case he can't come to terms with Riley.

Everything I said in February was true. Wade wants to retire on the Heat, and he is/was willing to take less money to stay there long-term. The problem is that "less" in Riley's eyes is an absurdly low value, so they are essentially showing him the door.

Tax Payer MLE is too little, if the Cavs still had the full MLE things would be different imo unless Gilbert pays the man 10m under the table (which i'm more than fine with)
4 stars rotation, atleast 2 stars at the same time in the second unit, not bad.
would still prefer danny green and mills though

I agree with this in principle, but then if I were the Heat, I wouldn’t trade him to the Cavs... I’d trade him to whichever team offers the best trade package. (Which certainly would NOT be the Cavs)

Fellas. Is it happening?

A few weeks ago, I didn't think there was any chance of this even being a possibility. But looks like it got some legs.

Strap in, we going on a safari :chuckle:

Yeah, Wade definitely is a starter, no question. No debate. We don't have to play him 30 minutes a game, we never play him on back-to-backs, we can be very cautious with him.

JR/Shump starting over him? Hell, nah. Hell, nah. Kyrie and Wade in the back court is just sick, its the best back court in the league. Better than the splash brothers.

Wade, when healthy, and himself, given he's not always able to be that the entire season, to me, is still one of the best shooting guards in the NBA. Maybe the best.

Obviously he can't be that guy during the entire season.

There's no one that's suddenly more talented at the position than him though.

Remember what he did to us, when we played them? He still has that in his game, he just has to pace himself. He can pace himself on this team.

Fuck, make this happen, please. I am getting too excited thinking about it.
