Emeka Okafor ?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I came up with something like:

CLE trades: Wally, Hickson, Smith
CLE receives: Okafor, Jaric

MEM trades: Jaric, Crittenton
MEM receives: Wally

CHA trades: Okafor (sign and trade at 1st year salary between $12-14 million)
CHA receives: Hickson, Smith, Crittenton

It appears Okafor wants out of Charlotte. They would get a big that could help now (Smith) and in the future (Hickson). They also get another prospect in Crittenton that might give them the flexibility to deal Felton at a later time.

Memphis is rumored to be looking at making a splash in the FA market next summer. Clearing Jaric's contract (as well as Crittenton's) gives them an additional $8.5 million in cap space. Also, Wally is owed $13 million (for one more year), while Jaric is owed $21.2 (over the next 3 years). Therefore MEM saves about $8 million in salaries.

Okafor, Wallace, and Varejao would be redundant (at least until December 5th) in the frontcourt. We'd also have a lot of money tied up in those players (even with AV out of the equation).

This trade would still provide us with all of our future draft picks, DJ, AV, and Sasha to have flexibility at the deadline. In the meantime, the lineup would be:

West/Boobie, Sasha/Jaric, LBJ/FA, Okafor/AV, Z/Wallace

Are you saying that Joe Smith gives us this low post scoring?

He Doesn't

And we wouldn't have enough front court to play... lol

Z/Andy
Okafor/Joe

Injury=****ed

And no way would i give up all of that for Okafor...Just no

No, we don't really have anyone that is a lost post scorer (other than Hickson) but Okafor would be a sure thing. Joe is kind of like Z, looking to make a mid-range shot more than post up.

We'd be left with Ben not Joe is this hypothetical. But anyway, we has a 4 man big rotation last season and we'd be upgrading from Joe to Okafor. But again, we could kick ourselves later if Hickson turns out great, but maybe another expiring and/or draft pick could replace him in a trade (maybe not, but it'd be nice to have a Hickson/Okafor future frontcourt).

I'm not sure I would, but everyone wants Wally gone, Joe is just an aging expiring (I like him, but he won't do as much as Okafor) and Hickson would be a question mark for us. It could go either way if Emeka doesn't live up to standards or if Hickson turns out to be something special.
