A Volusia County man was arrested after deputies say he choked his wife for eating leftover fried chicken.

Desmond Brownlee, 45, has been charged with felony battery -domestic by strangulation and tampering with a witness in the early Sunday morning incident.

Deputies said Brownlee was upset because his wife had eaten leftover fried chicken from dinner and was attempting to cook more fried chicken when he became agitated after she began critiquing his cooking efforts.

The argument escalated to Brownlee pushing his wife onto the bed, striking her multiple times in the face and choking her, according to the report.

The wife then called 911 when Brownlee took the phone away from her, deputies said.

When deputies arrived, Brownlee told them his wife "went wild and started to slap at him," according to the report.

Deputies said both Brownlee and his wife had been consuming alcoholic beverages since the afternoon and found Brownlee to be the primary aggressor.

Brownlee was arrested and taken to Volusia County jail.

This is a ploy to seize your God given right to BBQ. The media and the government are acting together to orchestrate a BBQ grab. Don't believe me watch the video below. Today it's an Environmental issue and you need an EPA approved grill from Home Depot. Sometime in the future when they have a list of registration for all BBQ owners they will come for your BBQ's and it will be too late to stop them.

I think we need a serious legit blog about this.

Fantastic question. Themes do arise if you read the articles:

1. Poverty with those doing the stabbing. Fixed incomes mean you can't just go out and buy more meat. That last piece of chicken or last rib represents the end of some splurge.

2. No firearms. I hear a lot about gun control, but I have to say that it's hard to find stories of hunger shootings, but hunger stabbings are all over the news. Maybe it's because cave men didn't have firearms. I read in The Federalist that a guy gets fatally stabbed once every five hours in the United States, five times more often than a fatal shooting. I'd hate to be that guy.
I've never heard of someone cutting up their selected meat with a gun, so I think immediate availability of the weapon plays a big role.

This is interesting, I'm looking forward to your findings @Randolphkeys . Is there any correlation between the nationality of the stabber, stabbee and the chicken? I'm also interested in seeing what kinds of cutlery were used in the incidents. are we talking steak knives, carving knives, salad forks etc. what is the pattern here.

From what I can tell, chicken and rib related violence are crimes of passion. Someone is hungry, but they are deprived succulent tasty meat, and go caveman on friends and family causing that loss.

I did just find a fabulous outlier case, where a nephew disagreed on the term for a cut of meat. Do you say "pork chop" or "pork steak?". The answer might be the difference between life or death.

St. Louis police: Jennings man shot uncle to death over pork steak

ST. LOUIS • A Jennings man used a shotgun to settle a fight with his uncle over pork steaks early Monday in St. Louis, police say.

John Cunningham, 43, of the 2000 block of Wedgewood Drive in Jennings, was charged Monday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Lessie E. Lowe, 44.

Lowe, who lived in the 5600 block of Hiller Place in St. Louis, is the maternal uncle of Cunningham, police say.

The shooting in the home on Hiller Place stemmed from an argument between Lowe and Cunningham over whether the cuts of meat they were planning to cook were pork steaks or pork chops, police say.

Cunningham said they were pork steaks, police said. Lowe disagreed.

After the argument became physical about 1 a.m. Monday, the two had to be separated by someone else in the home, police say. Cunningham went to another part of the home, grabbed a shotgun and shot Lowe, police said.

Lowe died later at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Cunningham, who was correct about the meat, was taken into custody.

L.C. Lowe of Hazelwood, who is Lessie Lowe's oldest brother and one of 17 siblings, said Lessie Lowe was a "smart young man" who liked to fix cars and make other repairs. L.C. Lowe said he wasn't at the home on Hiller Place when his brother was slain, but that he knew Cunningham and his brother were close and liked to hang around together.

-Kim Bell, Joel Currier and Christine Byers of the Post-Dispatch contributed to this report.

Of course the Jewish hospital let him die over some pork.

There's your headline @Randolphkeys

This just proves once and for all that nothing good comes from cooking pork at 1 am. what on earth were they thinking.

A couple of my cousins once got in a fight over pierogies. Actually, the fight initially involved just the two cousins, but by the end , all seven of us were having a go at it.
Needless to say, we're all about as pasty-colored as the mashed potatoes used for the filling.

Sadly, over 100 actual pierogies were killed in that fight as well.

... Had a friend post the first article on FB. I explained to him how it was a national problem. Clearly it's time to make some chicken and rib free safety zones.

Here's a recap of possible political platforms suggested by this thread and other people elsewhere about our hideous national trend. My hope is that chicken and ribs related violence becomes a debating point going into next November:

1. Regulation of delicious chicken and ribs in impoverished areas. Perhaps this looks like "blue law" where chicken and ribs aren't available during certain days and times. Perhaps chicken and ribs cannot be delicious enough to encourage manslaughter.

2. Regulation of metal silverware in impoverished areas. I mean, chicken and ribs should be eaten with your hands anyways. This means plastic forks and knives only at these establishments and at family get togethers.

3. Subsidies granted to suppliers of delicious prepared chicken and ribs in impoverished areas. Really, the problem here could be supply and demand. The demand is high, the food stamp system has been decimated by a Republican controlled Congress. Isn't it time we looked to fix the supply and demand issue with tax breaks to mom and pop companies serving chicken and ribs at an affordable price?

4. A workforce of social workers in impoverished areas cooking chicken and ribs, teaching barbequing methods and conflict mediation. This is kind of like a 21st century reboot of the Black Panthers without all that vegetarian and feminist movement crap.

Add others if they come to you. I'd also like to point out this problem was around back in the 1970s as well, even among the rich and elite. Ribs once drove Bill Cosby to rape Sammy Davis Jr.'s girlfriend:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...x-girlfriend-sammy-davis-jr-article-1.2052890

Bill Cosby was a rat who stalked prey in his own pack, a former girlfriend of Sammy Davis Jr. says.

Katherine McKee alleges Cosby raped her in a Michigan hotel room in the early 1970s when she was on tour with Davis.

She joins more than 20 other women who have accused the comedian known as “America’s Dad” of sexual assault.

McKee, an actress and former Vegas showgirl, said she partied regularly with Davis’ notorious Rat Pack in the late 1960s and had known Cosby for eight years when the alleged assault took place.

“Back then, I was Sammy’s road wife. He had an open marriage, and we were lovers. That’s how it went,” McKee told the Daily News, talking about the alleged sexual assault for the first time.

She said Cosby, 77, ambushed her out of the blue one night after she decided to extend her stay around a Detroit gig so she could visit family. Cosby was in town too and invited her to a party on a boat, she said.

“He was a buddy. He knew I was Sammy’s girl,” she said about accepting the invitation.

McKee, now 65, said Cosby asked her to get some ribs from local hotspot Checker Bar-B-Q and then pick him up at his hotel.

“I remember I walked in the door, and he had a robe and cap on. He took the ribs from my hands and just grabbed me,” McKee said of Cosby.

I'm sure you can imagine what happened from there...
