While Korver was on the floor, the lane was wide open for Kyrie to drive. The lane often collapsed when he was within fifteen feet, but the initial space came from spacing. The Celtics are a very good team defense. If they want to take away Korver, or take away LeBron when he is on the floor, the offense needs to adjust rather than force a square peg through a round hole. Last night, Korver the decoy worked just fine.

Didnt take a shot but had the 2nd highest +/- on the team. Crazy.

One thing that gets ignored he is a pretty good defender. He doesnt have the lateral quickness, but he is a tough defender who uses angles, effort and length to defend a bit above average.

Yep. I'm not sure why anyone cares if Korver is getting up shots, if the offense is still uber efficient as it was last night (in the second half). In part simply BECAUSE of Korver's mere presence. At this level of the playoffs teams will usually be able to take away something. We also took Korver away when he was on Atlanta if everyone recalls. Boston just decided they weren't going to let him go off. So they took that away. But it is like a Sophie's choice cause there is no good answer when our offense is clicking properly.

James Jones would provide similar floor spacing.

Korver needs to be more than just a decoy. It's not like he's hurting the team but he's making a much smaller impact than he needs to

You can go through the pages and see how much I defended the Korver trade and even praised his defense

But we didn't bring him in for defense and we didn't bring him in for floor spacing. Have to make a better effort to get him shots. Korver can demoralize a team by putting up 12 points in 4-5 possessions. That's the Korver we need. That's the Korver that can give us a big lead against GSW.

It's nice that he is an active defender and a floor spacer, but James Jones is a floor spacer and not a terrible defender. We need Korver to be a marksman.

Exactly. What's the problem running for him a few set plays? he is one of our better decision makers and he opens up the game whether he takes the shot or not.
He had a couple of nice passes to Lebron the other night in the very few opportunities he had.

At worst, it makes our offense less predictable and makes the Celtics defense scramble and switch. At best, he gets an open look and renergizes our squad.

Disagree with you there. First of all, Boston is NOT treating Korver like James Jones. Whoever has been assigned Korver is within a foot of him at all times, nobody is rotating off of him. That's isn't how they treat Kevin Love, let alone the 15th guy on our roster. Secondly, we saw Korver forcing shots against tight defense in game 3. He went 1-6, his one three being off of a blown help off LeBron double. If Korver is being that tightly defended, it's time for the players capable of driving to take advantage. In game 3, RJ Shump and D-Will didn't take advantage as the lead dwindled. That can't happen against Golden State.

Exactly, Boston had a game plan whenever Korver was on the floor, sticking to him close, jumping out on screens and generally tilting the defense in his dorection.

It would be beyond stupid to try to force shots for him just because some fans think we should. Korver opens up large areas of the floor for other things and if we rotate the ball properly it puts their defense into scramble mode.

Not to mention Korver has been missing some open looks lately when he has had them. Snipers like him can't afford to miss as much as he has lately. I'm confident he'll have some good spurts before it's all said and done but him not getting any shots up last night is not a cause for concern.

I don't know what to make of his defense: he certainly tries and is in the right position but he gets beat off the dribble a lot. A bit depressing when a rookie like Jaylen Brown whose not exactly know for his offensive repertoire can just beat with his first step or with a turnaround move

Agree with the spacing though: even if he's not taking a shot the defense has to account for him

Gotta disagree. Jalen is an unknown commodity as a rookie and seems to have a pretty good first step. He has scored on LeBron too that way. I like his upside

yeah, I really liked his defensive effort. He wasn't a world-beater but you never get the feeling we're bleeding points by having him out there

His on ball defense is not good, and I shudder to think what happens if he gets isolated against any Warrior not named Shaun Livingston (should that match up happen). However, his tear defense is absolutely outstanding, and if he's not left alone on an island, he does a pretty good job.

Between Iggy and Livingston, you have to think there will always be a guy on the court that Korver can guard fine

Especially with Iggy having completly lost his Shot only shooting 11% on Threes...

Until the Finals where in true Warriors fashion he will shoot 60%
