Farewell, Timofey Mozgov

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's an impressive athlete for his size and he has completely transformed the opposing teams offensive game plan. Tremendous work by Griffin to turn this thing around.

Agreed on the athleticism. I'd like to see Griffin further safepad (safeguard + pad, get it?) this investment by getting Mozzy a personal trainer and a part-time dietician/chef. Anyone who thinks that's weird, just think about it for 5 minutes (especially while we're talking about Z) and tell me it's not a great investment.

Preserve his knees and overall athleticism. I hope we learned from our last talented Euro 7-footer that it's worth more than paying craploads in insurance down the road.

PS- Perhaps Lebron would lend him his yoga instructor as well. That seems to possibly have done something for him...

you guys.. lol.. model? shes a cute chick, but cmon now

also, Z could score substantially, consistently. Moz provides as much talent, but on the defensive end.

Pre-injury Z would have been a perennial all-star...easy fellas.

I love Z. However, I don't think that "Pre-injury Z" ever played in the NBA.

I admire him coming back from his multiple surgeries, playing through pain at a high level and settling in Cleveland. He is a dude.

In a four game sample size Mozgov looks quite athletic with a smooth shooting stroke. The upgrade in the defense is very noticeable when he is in the lineup. In short, he is the missing link the team needed at the center position.

Good times!

Mozgov ruins all sense of scale here. I have no idea how tall she is. She could be taller than me.

It's Z incarnate. And to think, the one thing missing from the new LeBron era was Z himself. Funny how things work.
I really don't get these Z comparisons. Is it because he's actually a competent center for once? Because Z was never really a "rim protector" the way Mozgov is, and Moz is also considerably faster. Z couldn't run, and I never saw him defend guards the way I saw Mozgov do.

Z had a heck of a lot of athleticism before he developed the feet of a 90 year old woman.

7'3 is 7'3. He didn't have to be athletic to be a rim protector. He knew positioning and he guarded the rim well.

Z could protect the rim as long as he didn't get pulled out of the paint. Mozgov can actually flash out the perimeter and still get back to challenge on drives. Obviously, Z had more of an offensive repertoire, but that isn't needed on this team.

Yep. I wish there were more highlights of rookie Z so younger fans could see what he was before the injuries. He fought through the injuries to have a good career, but it could have been so much better. He was similar to Mozgov athletically, but bigger.

I think the Ilgauskas comparisons are a bit of a disservice to Z. Z was the starting center for teams that regularly finished in the top 10 in defense. Z had great size and was very, very smart when it came to positioning, and moving, albeit slowly, on the court.
I've enjoyed watching Mozgov, but let's not forget that he's been here for 7 games and 5 of them have been absolute messes defensively.
