Farewell to Jarrett Jack

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Jarrett Jack

I cant wait for the day day we can close this thread.

Re: Jarrett Jack

Did some good things tonight but please trade him.

Find me a nice solid backup SF in return or C.

Re: Jarrett Jack

He played within himself tonight and actually made some nice passes. He was talking a lot out there getting guys in the right spots, and he wasn't forcing shots.

I've been hating the dude recently, but he provided value tonight.

Better game from Jack, but not $5 million worth of value. Sad for the guy as he seems to be trying to play more like Delly who is on $490k . Anyway, I'll take this improvement.

I won't deny that he made a couple nice passes, but the thing where he dribbles the air out of the ball then passes to a double-teamed Kyrie in the corner with 8 seconds left on the shot clock was painful to watch. That combined with the 3 turnovers and the fact that he never made the slightest effort to get open off the ball largely offsets any positive impact he had on the game.

Re: Jarrett Jack

A car only has two front seats. With Kyrie, Waiters, and Jack you have 3 front seaters. No ones happy sitting on the shift. With Delly showing the ability to take a back seat it makes moving Jack easy. I think Waiters has fallen into his bench role well.

Jack still doesn't make a lot of sense. He's just out of place.

Re: Jarrett Jack

Posted in the game thread already, but has to be said here:

On a night where Dion had 0 assists and Kyrie had 4, some bum named Jarret Jack had 8 assists and the highest +- on the team tonight, had two steals and just one TO.

Doesn't forgive him of his nightly sins for most of the season, but for as much as we beat him up, tonight he made some valuable contributions.

True. He actually looked like an NBA point guard tonight. So, he's getting paid about 1.5 mil per good game this year. Tonight doesn't change how horrid he's been most of the time.

He had a decent game. Trade him now please. Really don't want him taking minutes from Dion long term in the 4th quarter games going forward

8 assists is good, but it came at a steep price. Playing Kyrie at SG seriously limited his effectiveness, and as a result we were having our worst offensive game in a long time through three quarters, in spite of playing a poor defensive team. When Jack deferred and Kyrie moved back to his natural role in the 4th quarter our offense took off and we won the game.

Jarrett Jack

Jack had a nice game tonight, which is even more of a reason to trade him. I never thought Jack was a terrible player, but his role on this team is redundant...we have too many guards, not enough quality bigs. Find a way to trade him for something useful and that can create a more balanced team.

I agree with this but to a degree tonight, Dion's play didn't necessitate being on the court in crunch time and the group Brown sent out there with about 7 minutes to go took control. If they hadn't played so well or Jack had stagnated things, I would imagine Waiters might have come back in with 4 minutes to go.

Re: Jarrett Jack

It was a back-to-back game and Jack was giving them stable play. I didn't have a problem with Brown going with Jack on a night where he contributed, and Dion wasn't sulking about it. I wish we had this problem more often (Jack playing so well that we question whether to give him more minutes).

A decent game by Jack is also not the worst thing for other GMs to see in the game going into the All-Star Break...

"Nets Have Interest In Jarrett Jack

February 17 at 2:23pm CST By Chuck Myron

The Nets are eyeing guard Jarrett Jack, tweets Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPNNewYork.com, who hears that there’s a chance Brooklyn swaps Jason Terry for Jack. It’s unclear how strong the odds are of that, or if the Cavs are interested in Terry.

Jack is in the first season of a four-year, $25.2MM contract that pays him $6.3MM each season, while Terry will make about $5.625MM this year and slightly more than $5.85MM next season in the final year of his deal. The difference between their salaries would be compounded for the Nets, who are well into the tax. New Cavs GM David Griffin would be parting with one of predecessor Chris Grant‘s key offseason additions if Cleveland surrenders Jack, who hasn’t had the same impact for the Cavs as he had last year with Golden State.

Jack, 30, is shooting a career-worst 39.7% this season, and his 8.5 points per game is his lowest scoring average since he was a rookie. Terry, whom the Nets acquired from the Celtics in the Kevin Garnett/Paul Pierce blockbuster, is plumbing even farther depths. The 36-year-old is posting new lows in scoring, rebounding, assists, field goal percentage and minutes."

No, please no. No benefit at all.
