Favorite Cuisine?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I love everything that's been mentioned to this point, but a top 3 on my list that I haven't seen yet is BBQ.... I got a big green egg from my groomsmen last year and I'm obsessed with that damn thing. The intricacies of preparing and mastering excellent barbecue is unlike any other form of cuisine. The variable of coal based fuel, smoke etc is a game changer.

Tasting world class barbecue is an experience... And then you can branch out into international barbecue (Asado Argentino, mmm).

Wouldn't BBQ fall into American cuisine?

Speaking of, I had some of the most amazing burnt ends I've ever tasted last week at a place called Midwood Smokehouse in Charlotte. I already knew the place was awesome, but damn those things were just incredible. They literally melted in your mouth. The place also has bacon-wrapped, cheese-stuffed jalapenos as a side dish, and great mixed drinks as well in addition to a nice craft beer selection.

I had this incredible mixed drink that was Tito's, ginger beer, lime juice, and a few jalapeno slices. So delicious.

@brownindian - This is where I miss OS rep and demand it back! That gif is hilarious.

Whenever I was in NYC and in my uncles apartment building, it always smelled like curry. But then again, my grandparents house smelled like curry chicken. I ate a dish from Superior Pho once (Bò lúc lắc) and the first thing I said was "This tastes and smells like Brooklyn". I believe they marinate the meat in a curry powder which very close to what my mother and grandparents cooked with.
We are big on marinating our foods and using a lot of spices .... the problem is it can get pungent so it can really be unpleasant for others based on how strong the spices are and how much quantity you put in. But it is worth experimenting - chicken breast marinated with mild spices will give a good kick and a bit of something different to enjoy the same meal.

I really fucking love BBQ
How easy are those things to use?

There's definitely a big learning curve when you first start using it, but that's part of what makes it fun. If you want a straightforward smoker that doesn't require a lot of attention, get a Traeger. I personally love having to baby sit the thing - get a good cigar and a stiff drink on a fall day and just hang out with the egg.

Its also very flexible - you can grill/smoke/bake with the thing.

Well I won't have a place to use it for a few years so in the meantime get good with it and I'll steal

Got a smoker this summer and I'm addicted to using it.

I've made ribs twice, shoulder three times, brisket once, and chicken three times.

So much more fun than just grilling. Taste is much richer too.

Sushi, steak, red wine and a filthy rich chocolate desserts. Sooo...American cuisine?

FYI, Strip Steakhouse in Avon has made it into my top 5. They really stepped up their game in the last year. The owner/chef is a d-bag, but the food is extraordinary. The atmosphere is great...it's a converted old barn...ask to be seated upstairs. It's perfect for a date night.

Started with lobster bisque...finally a place that can rival Salmon Dave's bisque. Different than SD's, but just as awesome.
Then they brought us pretzel bread with some peanut butter spread shit that was like crack. i could've eaten a bowl of it. They also had honey butter.
For an app we had the Almond Prawns - "Asian style seared prawns on hearts of palm cilantro slaw, sriracha remoulade, with candied almonds" - out of this world.
Then we split a King Berry salad - "Field greens with raspberry vinaigrette, Spanish nuts, feta cheese, strawberries, and English cucumber" I'm not a salad guy, but this thing was excellent.
Boilermaker - "10 oz. center cut ribeye, sugar and spice rubbed, blackened in a cast iron skillet with a touch of Irish whiskey". They have 6 sauces and 4 compound butters to choose from too. The server suggested Blueberry Tarragon Brandy sauce with this particular steak...i never would have picked it. It was astounding. One of the best steaks i've ever had in Cleveland, if not the best.
For sides we got lobster risotto and Mama’s jambalaya...both were just stupid good. Barely made a dent in them and took a ton home.
For desert we got their version of S'mores. Graham crackers, marshmallow and chocolate galore with a brownie melting inside...i practically needed insulin after this thing. Unreal.
My wife asked for post dinner shots, bartender's choice. They brought us these chocolate martini type shot things that were ridiculous. She wanted to have sex immediately after the shot.

Just a perfect meal from start to finish. Great ambiance inside and out.
