Game 1 | Cavaliers vs Celtics | October 27, 2009 | 7:30 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well tonight was confirmation this is going to take a while. Mike Brown has a new roster and isn't sure how to use it yet. The guys aren't really comfortable with each other yet. The crowd almost carried them, but in the end Boston was too tough. We need Delonte back and playing at his best, or else our bench looks pretty weak. Most of all we just need games, and we'll get 81 more of those until we get to the ones that really matter.

We'll be fine. Just gotta get used to playing together. We weren't going 82-0.

I think Jamario Moon needs to be involved more on this team because of his defense, but how can he with LeBron playing 45 mins?

this game was lost due to:

lack of cohesiveness with the first unit

a second unit that doesn't know who the go-to guy is with James on the bench

the second unit got trigger happy in the first half and allowed way to many fast break points for the C's on long rebounds

.... and wow JJ looked crazy nervous. He really really needed minutes last season. A steady JJ could make a huge difference for the second unit.

But seriously, replay this game a little while from now and you will have a totally different outcome (hopefully). Just need to rub the green off of JJ, get the second unit together and let the starters feel each other out.

This game was lost when we for some reason went with a lineup of Mo, Boobie, Moon, AV, and Z. Mo was the only one that can create for himself, Boobie is just terrible on D, Z isn't very effective without LeBron setting him up, Moon is a decent shooter but shouldn't be in the game where he might have to handle the ball, and AV is obviously offensively challenged. We can't have such a terrible offensive lineup when we have Boobie in there.

I'm sorry, might get blasted for this and I know its the "first" game of the season, but if this is the way MB is going to coach (similar to the Orlando fiasco) we are in trouble.

Lets be honest threes was the difference in the, but a lot of those three were on MB shoulders. Z was ineffective and a liability on D. He got torched trying to guard the picks and keep up with Rasheed. Gibson was on the floor too much with little contribution...he still can barely even dribble ( i hope we get Daniels). That second quarter, specifically the lineup MB inserted, and the length that lineup was in there cost us the game.

It was just the first game, but I wanted to win it. I'm not bothered by losing, but I would've have liked to get beat by boston and not our coach. Yes we need to gel more, but that's not why we lost that game.

A new roster is no exuse for missed shots.

I know that this has been said countless times but I really hope that Delonte can come back soon. I know that we need to be respectful of his illness and recovery time, but the team is in dire need of a playmaker off the bench. He would have helped out a lot tonight and I'm sure he would have put up fine numbers on the offensive end. At the end of the day, it's just one game. Hopefully this team will become cohesive and start putting together some nice winning streaks. If we don't get homecourt, so be it. We need to beat the elite teams on the road whether it's in the regular season or the postseason. We'll be just fine.

So, we start out hot by hitting the paint. Then we get trigger happy and take a huge deficit. Then we battle back on the heals on LeBron getting to the line... and he decides a 3 is what we need to get back into it. There was the clincher.

We need time. We need Delonte. We need common sense.

I understand with getting used to each to other and chemistry and all but the part that hurts is that I feel like I was watching the Magic series. Come out hot and then blow the lead and cannot hit the shots when they really matter in the 4th quarter.

Don't forget the invisible Z, the cold Mo, the bad perimeter D, standing around on O, the desperation 3s... And now we lost our offensive coordinator...

I remember a couple of past Cavs (LeBron era) when we lost our home opener.

On top of the chemistry issues. This game, just like last season's opener against boston was lost on Mike Brown primarily.

Mike Brown is Mike Brown. Bizarre lineup in that 2nd qtr, bench getting seriously outscored while getting only 11 shots attempt the entire bench. Headless chicken offense when Lebron sits. Horrendous out of timeout offensive plays. Last resort of Lebron going 1 on 5, more of the same.

Hopefully, they can get better quick, cause Mike Brown is indeed a horrible offensive coach.

Well that sucked. But hey, boston always seems to come out of the gates rolling, and we have always taken awhile in the Mike Brown era to get things together (if you consider 1-2 last year awhile). If this had been a team like the hawks, the blazers, or perhaps even the spurs im sure we would have won by double digits. We'll beat the shit out of Toronto tomorrow, and everything will be fine and dandy again i'm sure. Patience.
