Game 1 | Cavaliers vs Celtics | October 27, 2009 | 7:30 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looking at the box score, it's not hard to see why we lost this game. Our guards go 6 - 17, and Parker and Shaq were the only ones with a positive +/-. With all of that, I still think we did a good job keeping it close when everything in the boxscore says we should have lost by a lot more.

If it wasn't for the 2nd quarter, we probably would have won this game. Somehow Boston cleaned our fucking clocks in that quarter.

I'm sure Mike Brown will fix his rotation a little better so we won't be seeing too many of these. It's going to take a while until we're set with minutes and who is going to be on the court with who. I also think we need to keep Mo as our second option instead of Shaq. If Shaq is just on cleanup duty, he's going to get at least 10 from that, and then we can force it to him when we need someone to score in the paint. He needs to defer to Mo now too.

And for those who don't think we miss Delonte, you're crazy. Having Parker or Delonte coming off of the bench is a major plus for any team and we needed that. Boobie sucked, Moon sucked, Z sucked, JJ sucked, you need a player that can come off of the bench and contribute.

For looking as bad as we did and seeing the C's were hitting three's like nothing. Id say not a bad outcome. Im not worried first of all If we would have had West we would have done ALOT better. Once we get West back and Shaq Is set we will be deadly. still not to bad for the cavs. Can't wait till west get backs out there. Goes to show how much he means to this team. I hope the Lakers lose tonight then Ill feel better :D

After thinking about it, here are my thoughts on why we lost and what should never happen again:

-Gibson has been given more chances then any player in the history of basketball. We need to cut his minutes, and once Delonte is back into form, I better see nothing but DNPs.

-All I could think about for every possession in the 4th quarter is why are Z and Shaq on the floor at the same time, especially with guys like Garnett and Wallace out there. Horrible decision by MB, this game is very similar to last year in respect to MB figuring out the rotation.

-Shaq missed a lot of easy shots in the 2nd half. I don't think that is going to happen too often. Remember, Mo looked horrible in his first game here as well, at least Shaq looked average.

-questionable shot selection by Parker late in the 4th quarter. Not sure what he was thinking on some of those shots.

-Z is a serious liability on both ends unless he is nailing his jumper, and even then whatever he scores he just gives it right back on D.

-Our bench was horrid. I use to be opposed to bringing Delonte off the bench, but I'm starting to realize that we need his scoring capabilities off the 2nd unit. I am now on the "Delonte as a sixth man" bandwagon.

-Mo was a no-show in yet another big game. He says he is out to prove something, but you couldn't tell it by watching this game.

All in all, I have to say that in the back of my head all day I had a bad feeling about this game. We showed some things out there that give me hope that we can be a great team this year. Let's use these next games against easy opponents to get our offense back on track.

Hats off to Boston. We lost 3 times all last year and they handled business.

81 to go though so we got time to figure it out.

I think this game shows that Delonte is very important to our team. He needs to get back very soon(tomorrow?) so we can see how much better we our with him. I also think he needs his starting job. I understand that it might not happen this early but Delonte helps Mo out on the court a lot more than people think and that makes us a way better team. I also wasnt happy to see Lebron play 44 minutes. Not a good look, imo.

And if you are goin to establish Shaq, at least have him create some foul troubles for the other team early. He didn't take his first free throw until the 4th????

Enough bitching, this was nothing more than an extension of preseason. We obviously don't have rotations set and we haven't learned to play together completely.

Good points. Delonte frees up Mo in many ways. We are missing that other hard driver and shoot or kick, other than LeBron. Delonte is that guy. We are missing the aggressive perimeter defense...... Delonte is that guy. It's very clear we need him on the floor. Boston killed us with the three. Many of those threes, other than Wallace's, would have been guarded by Delonte. Parker is a nice player, but teams don't fear or guard him closely like they would if DWest was on the floor. That's seems to be real big as Mo just isn't open at all the way it is.

Is it just me or does sheed have a cup holder on the back of his afro.

We lost the first game of the season last year, that regular season still turned out okay. No need to freak out.

locker room quotes from tonights post game via Twitter

"This lockerroom will always be the same, guys loose and having fun, you remember I said that game 82" Mo

"I didnt want to come out (in the 1st qtr.) I can go forever." Shaq

"If you're not on the same page it can be hard to score, it doesnt matter who is out there" LBJ

"I dont want to read too much into the 1st game" LBJ

One game in a long season so I'm trying not to overreact. Not much to like tonight other than the play of LeBron. Most of the problems that have been there in the past and that we've discussed in depth were still there.
Offense was stagnant many times, still had problems with the pick and roll at times, some lack of quickness and ability to defend opposing quickness in the backcourt, also same issue with the frontcourt. It is only 1 game and those things will continue to be addressed and corrected.

45 minutes on opening night for LeBron? That shit needs to stop unless its the finals or conference finals. I don't care how little production there is off the bench.
