Game 11 | #3 Ohio State vs. #9 Michigan State | November 21st, 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Losing Herman killed this season. Early in the year they had Cardale out there and he looked like shit running the zone read and throwing bubble screens, so instead of throwing the ball downfield to future NFL receivers, they fix it by bringing in Barrett who can run the zone read great against Rutgers and Illinois, but when they face a real defense, we get this shit show. They haven't thrown downfield all year, so I shouldn't have expected them to do it tonight when they needed to.

Next week is going to be ugly. This defense hasn't slowed down a competent running game all year, and UM has some big backs that will abuse this front, not to mention Peppers out of the backfield. Harbaugh is going to embarrass Urban, and hopefully that will be enough to get Beck fired and we can bring in a real playcaller next year. I just hope Urban doesn't retire after he sees the exodus of talent leaving next year.

Take all of Barrett's runs and they should have been split between Zeke and passes. Elliott probably will be punished, but he shouldn't be. He was right.

A lot of unhappy campers on that OSU football team this year....

You wonder if the players have been pissed all season at the fact that they elected Barrett captain and Urban chose Cardale to start?

I dunno. I'm not gonna side with the players ripping coaches like Zeke just because we lost a game and I'm upset. Zeke shouldn't have said what he said.

I doubt it. If Cardale was playing all of those runs Barrett had would have gone to Zeke, so he wouldn't have had reason to complain.

Yea, cause the play calling made so much sense with Cardale this season as well.

Nomally, I would frown on a player airing it out publicly, but that game was so pathetically coached, I'm glad he blasted them. There's something refreshing about somebody around here not taking defeat in stride and spitting out tired cliches.

Believe what you want Torn, you always do.

But if Urban was in control of the play calling, then why in the world did he promote Beck in the middle of the season to "help" Warriner with the play calling? Help with what, one must wonder, if Urban is calling the plays.

In september Urban stated The guy in the box would call their jet tempo plays. I didnt see any jet tempo offense so the play calling came from the sideline.

Zeke didnt lobby to the oc he went to the HC.

sort of leads credence that Urban was calling most of the plays today..like Urban says he did. If the OC's job is in jeapordy its gonna be based on the season not this one loss

It didn't, but it was still predictable. Run, run, 1 yard pass, punt. Only with Jones in there, Elliott got most of those runs instead of the QB.

There is a link. Read it yourself if you want, but I'm not gonna debate this one forever with you.

The highlights, "That's Beck, Ohio State quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator, and, at the moment, play caller."

"That means it's different from where it started the year, when offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Ed Warinner was the play caller from the sideline."

"'Ultimately, right now, the voice is mine,' Beck said Monday."

"We're looking into some of that. Ed Warriner's -- it's not like it's a demotion or something like that. And Tim's been here long enough," Meyer said then. "Also if we go jet tempo, that's got to be from upstairs, because you can't see anything from down there. So those are all things we're going to get cleaned up."

That last one is where you're getting your info from. Notice Urban doesn't say what you thought he said. He doesn't say Beck is only calling jet tempo plays. He's making an argument why Beck is taking over the play calling duties entirely, which includes the fact that he ALREADY had to call the plays when they went jet tempo. He was then promoted to handle all of it.

Zeke definitely shouldn't have gone to the press with those feelings, so hopefully he learns from this mistake when he heads off to the next level.

That being said, what he said was right. I have no problem with them wanting to run the ball with the shitty conditions, but at least mix it up with your RB instead of just doing QB draws every play. It will be interesting to see if Urban brings anybody else in during the offseason or just places the blame on the indecision with the QBs not allowing us to catch a rhythm.

Just got caught up on Zeke's post game comments. Wooooo boy. This team ain't winning again this season. Heads in much different places.
