Game 11 | #3 Ohio State vs. #9 Michigan State | November 21st, 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wish there were an 8 team playoff, it'd be more like the NFL, which I think is by far the most exciting playoff in all of sports, maybe college basketball rivals it, but I don't think it does.

No way, March Madness >>>>>> NFL playoffs. Really, the NFL playoffs, at least recently, are pretty ho-hum and overrated. The NFL in general is overrated. For as much love as it gets for it's salary cap and "parity", it has the least parity among all major sports. It's a league driven by one position, and if you don't have it, you don't have a chance. Every year it's the same teams (Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Colts, Broncos, Bengals). The NFC has a little more variance overall, but you get my point. Steelers-Ravens Part 6 or Patriots-Colts part 8 just doesn't do it for me.

The NFL of today has regressed and has so many flaws thanks to Goodell... it's just not the game I grew up loving. Meanwhile, CFB added a playoff, March Madness didn't ruin itself by increasing the tournament to 96 teams, MLB added a wild card game, and NBA has so many young stars that are fun to watch (and the Cavs are title contenders). Sorry about the rant... I just don't get the NFL bias that America has, just like I don't get the SEC bias that the media has.

Yeah, I don't care for the NFL at all honestly.

I like the 4 team playoff. The purpose of the 4 team playoff was to make sure the most deserving team had a shot at a national title, and there have been far too many times 3 teams all had a legit claim to a top 2 spot the past decade. People are now worrying about teams like TCU and Baylor last year not having a bid, even though they were arguably as deserving as the #4 seed OSU. The truth is, with 8 teams the 9th team might have a legit gripe to want a spot. But this system does what it's intended: Whatever the argument is, the top 2 teams in the country will be involved in the playoffs, even if the seeding is disputed. The argument that the best team in the country didn't even get a shot isn't valid unless there's 5 teams who all have a legit claim on the top 2 seeds, and that isn't likely to happen any time soon.

The way they're calling penalties in the NFL now is terrible. You get more influence from officials. That weakens the game, in my opinion. Gives them greater power to alter the outcome of a game.

I felt like at least 3 or 4 times in the Bengals-Cardinals game that refs greatly altered the game by calling 50/50 calls that made huge impacts. I'm horrendously biased, but I remember Tirico saying "a flag came out way after the play was over" and they called an illegal formation on a play the Bengals had a huge (37 yards?) gain on. Shows up in the box score as a 5 yard penalty when it really them way more than that. And of course they didn't bother to actually show the illegal formation on TV.

They also had a big 1st down run (13 yards, iirc) that was negated by a hold they didn't show. Next play was a Dalton interception.
