GAME 24 | Cavs vs Hawks | Dec. 13, 2008 | 7:30 PM

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Atlanta's starters have played heavier minutes than the Cavs for the last week, they're playing their last of 4 games in 5 nights also, and they're playing their first game at home after a 4 game road trip.

I don't think it will be a pretty game, determined by hustle as much as other factors. Cavs have to contain the Hawks' transition game and rebound well (should be a whole lot of missed shots).

Cavs 87 - Hawks 83. Cavs lowest point total in a win, Hawks lowest point total of the season. Streak continues until Denver.

Can't say I would be shocked if the Hawks won but I would be disappointed if the Cavs don't keep it close.

We probably go down tonight: 4th game in 5 nights on the road against a good team plus down 2 guys - not looking good

I'm sorry but we're still going to win this one! I believe!

JJ has a threat to be "Drew Like" BUT, the only difference is JJ is a rookie and will be corrected and still has time to grow. Drew was basically given the strating job here in absence of Boozer.

Thanks for clarifying my point about Hickson, hn3108. He's a rookie, so my expectations for him at this point are pretty low. However, his defense in terms of his position on the floor thus far has been very Drew-like. That's not to say he doesn't have talent on that end and he won't get better; he's shown that he can get up and challenge shots and he's athletic on that end. He just needs some time, and I think LeBron, Coach Wright, Big Ben and Mike Brown will be instrumental in helping the young fella realize his potential and become a presence in the rotation.

Going to be a tough one for sure. I think Mo is going to have a great game tonight. He looked off during the first three quarters last night, but he really started getting hot midway through the fourth, and I expect that to carry over tonight.

Djlofi can you put this link to the game in your game preview so everyone doens't have to ask for a stream later

http://albaaa.altervista.org/watch.php?id=102

We should have a sticky in the game section for todays stream, anyone who wants to find a stream can go there, no one should be posting on the sticky unless the have a stream. It will be very helpful to declutter the game threads and for those like me who need game streams.
I will lett the mods know this too.

Possibly, but we'll have to wait and see.

What's going to be hilarious is some of these posters (not you Pioneer, just clickin') who are going to start saying "The sky is falling" once this streak comes to an end.

I'm 29, and have seen alot of good and a even more BAD Cavs basketball in my life. I am enjoying this season so much - and I had Championship predictions before this torrid start. I'm shocked at how good we have been

I haven't posted much in a while, but the 10 game thread just made me shake my head. Reading some of those, "worst case, 7-3 but I hope it isn't that bad" posts - I couldn't believe the unrealistic standards some of you have. By the way, if we win 7 out of 10 the rest of the way, that's 60 wins!

Hopefully I'm wrong, but if I am, that means we win over 70 games, which, as great as this team is, probably ain't going to happen.

So, take the good with the bad - because these things ARE PROBABLY GOING TO HAPPEN:

We're going to lose a home game - probably 3 to 5
Somebody inferior is going to beat us - maybe even at home
We're probably going to lose two in a row sometime this season
We're going to look really bad in a loss sometime this season and get our asses kicked
Mike Brown will cost us a game or two with questionable substitution patterns

So, if it comes to an end, be it tonight, next week, next month - remember that this isn't college football and you can't - and don't need to - win them all.

Tonight's game is going to be tough, but we're 20-3, 7 games up in the division. No single game SCARES me at this point in the season.

So, just sit back and enjoy this team. This team is special and I predict we're going to be talking about 08-09 for a long, long time when it's all said and done.

Finally, a simple request for the majority of you - especially the newbies. A few of us (and it is a "few" based on the posts I've read) have followed this team - and even knew it existed - before LeBron. After all those years of either heartbreak or just putrid basketball, don't make me wade through a bunch of, "What's wrong with them...." posts when we have a 6-4 stretch of ball.

I'm not saying that I'm a better fan or anything like that. Just put everything into perspective and enjoy the ride. A loss is inevitable.................eventually.

From Amar at Cavalier Attitude:

Plus, it's not like going up against the Sixers and Hawks is like going up against the Celtics and Lakers on back-to-back nights. Or even the Magic and Nuggets. Or the Jazz and Blazers. There are no excuses to keep this streak going based on the the standard that this group has set for itself through the first 22 games.

Couldn't have said it any better about tonight's game. The Hawks have a great starting five, but it's one that's inconsistent. Joe Johnson and to a lesser extent Horford (if he's hitting baseline jumpers) probably are the two guys who scare me on this team. Josh Smith will be locked down by Ben, DJIII and LeBron, and Bibby and Marvin Williams don't scare me enough to make me think this game will be any different than Friday's win against the Sixers.

The Hawks are a potential first-round match up for the Cavs, so this is a nice measuring stick to see where the team is at. Closing out this game with a win would be like sweeping a first round playoff series for the Cavs.

Atlanta is finally healthy. A win on a back-to-back at Atlanta would certainly be the big win the Cavs need on their resume. Easily the most important game of this stretch.

Tough circumstances tonight, but this is a winnable game. LeBron should play heavy minutes, and if Mo comes through with a good night we should win.

No way we should be favored to win this game. If we were healthy we are slight favorites. Even with injuries atlanta is 7-1 at home. That is better than our road record of 7-3, and all 3 of our losses came with a full squad.(eric snow not withstanding, lol). The realistic views of this forum is funny at times. This is a team that is in the running for the third seed in the east, took the champs to 7 games last year because they won all 3 on their homecourt and we are coming in hurt while they are healthy.

A win tonight by the cavs would be an upset. We are 4.5 point favorites, but that because the betting public isnt as knowledgeable enough to know better. If we dont get healthy, a win at denver will be very difficult too. Even with Z, it wil be tough. But hey, how sweet would victory #12 in a row look.

I agree with the majority who say this is probably a loss, too many things against us this game. 2 of our key players injured, on the road, its the 2nd game on a back to back, and we are facing a very talented young/now healthy Hawks team. If we are gonna pull this one out, look for Mo to have a big game. I hope Z is back atleast in time for the Nuggets game, but even if we lose against the Hawks who would of thought after 24 games we would be 20-4. Hopefully we can pull it out though and keep the streak alive but i'm not holding my breathe.

This one really has the potential to turn into a loss, the Hawks play better at home, Wally can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn last couple of games. In yesterdays game AV was the only jump shot made well into the second quarter. After West finally hit a shot, then we started getting a few to fall. Oh and along with the Hawks playing better at home, our bench does tend to lack a little on the road. They have been OK, but on the road you can see the difference in the bench.
