Game 24: Trail Blazers @ Cavs, Tuesday, December 17, 2013, 7:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We had our issues, but pretty solid outting against the hottest team in the NBA. They've assembled a great team and we hung in and fought to the end to get beat by a cold blooded deeeeeep three. Can't blame Gee too much for giving him space that far out, he didn't want to give up the easy one. Kid just hit a monster shot.

I, for one, am happy to see some success, competitiveness, and progress from this very young team.

TT hit his first jumper cleanly then never attempted another one. That was the key to shutting down Bynum in the 2nd half. TT had the wide open free throw line jumper and completely ignored it. Either he starts taking them consistently or stagger the minutes so him and Bynum don't play much together.

Im not really going to cry when he cold buries a 27ish footer. I guarantee he would have drawn a foul otherwise if we weren't backed off.

The guy was 6/10 from three up to that point. Christ, he JUST hit a game winner in Detroit last night.

If you leave a guy like that with even so much as an inch with that much time left, knowing he essentially has to shoot it or attempt to dish it to someone who's covered, then it's completely unacceptable. He didn't even get a hand up until after the ball was released.

I'm more frustrated about this loss than the Heat one because we could've won this by double digits. Terrible effort keeping Portland off the glass and we missed layups and open ft line jumpers near the end. Failing to get Bynum involved hurt but it's not like we were struggling to score in the second half. Just Portland hitting 3 after 3 due to the failure to secure rebounds is what lost us this one.

I do love how Waiters killed them from the outside when his drives weren't productive. Need to keep that up.

What about that Bennett turn around jumper early in the game? I was watching a stream online at the time so it was shit quality but it looked pretty nice

Fantastic game by the Cavs. Blazers got lucky on so many offensive rebounds bouncing to the exact spot where a Blazer was standing. Some of it was preventable, but the majority wasn't and it's something that will happen from time to time. The team is coming together more and more. Bennett needs more minutes.

Portland just got another long rebound on the way to the bus.

Hard to do something with a guy that far out. But i remember Fred mentioning a stat saying he's shooting around 50% from top of the 3 line. Gotta find a way to get him out of that area

You're right, but at the same time you have to stop the drive as well. Gee was slow to respond, but we'd be just as pissed in a blow by.

Having bigs who can spread the floor for you means everything doesn't in Lillard? Feels nice doesn't it son? You hit the lottery with Aldridge. Give us time to bring our floor spacing 4 along and we can do this over the next decade.

Irving and Lillard... next great rivalry.

Thompson was 7-11 with alot of jump shots. At some point youll have to come to terms that he is the 4 on this team of the future

THIS!!!

He hit it clean and Portland STILL said, meh, make the next 4 and then we might close out on you. And Timid would not let it fly.

He shut down Bynum in the second half. Time to make the switch.

Yep, he's ready. Time to put him out there and let him play without looking over his shoulder

Offense looks natural for him. Imagine the boost if he finds his stride with starters or imagine the spacing he could provide lineups with Kyrie and Dion

The 3 to end the game was poorly defended. You can't let him walk into the shot almost completely uncontested. When he caught the ball that far out and didn't immediately penetrate, Gee has to get up on him. At least make him take the shot on the move and/or give someone an opportunity to come over and contest. You can't let a guy who has already buried 7 treys get that easy of a look without even working for it.
