Game 26: Raptors @ Cavs | Dec. 18th | 7:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Outside of draft picks, this team has done nothing to improve the on court product. We're not trying to put a good team on the court...yet.
:chuckles:

Well I take it back now....

CJ Miles might be the worst defensive player I've ever seen. And I know who Antawn Jamison is.

IT's amazing how bad he is on defense. When he isn't guarding the ball, he basically stands straight up and just relaxes. I really hate that guy.

Tyler Zeller, btw, is a Jamison like liability on defense. He's awful.

And you'd figure that at some point Kyrie would get tired of being made Calderon's bitch, as he has been now his first season and a half, but apparently he's still ok with it.

By far the most embarrassing performance from this team all year. Dreadful.

It's called a rebuild. Outside of draft picks, this team has done nothing to improve the on court product. We're not trying to put a good team on the court...yet.

If we were doing everything possible to put a winner on the court, and we were 5-21, I'd agree. At this point, we're not.

So it doesn't bother you in the least half our roster, and our star pg, play defense like they forgot to take their tampon out?

Or is it alright not to give a fuck because they will flip the switch and really start to care in about 3 years when we are done tanking?

Raps bench -33
Cavs bench - 3

And that was just in the 2nd half... 59-21 for the game.

If there are still any people who seriously think they're trying to win games, they're kidding themselves...

I think our star pg has looked much better on the defensive end since coming back from injury. Granted, he's not great out there defensively, but he's showing more consistent effort. Calderon was sure hitting his shots tonight though.

I'm happy that 2 years into the rebuild we have a potential star player and some interesting young pieces. Would I rather watch a winning team? Of course....but not at the cost of our future.

I honestly think we're gearing to make a splash soon, and in all honesty I don't think we'll be rallying the tank next year. This could be a very different team by the start of next season. We'll see.

I understand your upset, I just look at it a little differently.

The only silver lining is the fact that Jonas has been way over hyped all year. He's no more ready to be a contributor than Tristan is.

Things we learned:

It's easy to overlook based on his reputation and emerging offensive game but Varejao has really regressed as a defensive player. It isn't easy when you have a lot of weak defenders in Kyrie, Zeller, and Miles, but Andy is not an anchor.

CJ Miles has never played defense in his life.

It is too early to give up on Tristan.

Zeller has serious toughness issues.

Irving and the Raptors do not mix.

Time to chill. Too much crying in this thread..

Like it or not the Cavs main priority is another top 5 pick.

Outside of 4-5 guys this entire roster is still going be overturned in the next year. CJ, along with most of the bench, is hot garbage but he's gone after the season anyway. Kyrie's defense is my main concern and for whatever reason he struggles against the Raptors.

And can someone tell me how in the hell Daniel Gibson got this reputation as some great defender? He's been getting his ass kicked consistently this year.

It's just sad that an NBA team has a roster where at least half of it doesn't even belong in the NBA. Luke Walton, Kevin Jones, Samardo Samuels, Donald Sloan? The fact is even if they try to win, they can't. They only have a chance when Kyrie has a superstar night like 28-11 vs the Lakers or 41 points vs. the Knicks. I thought the team was a little better than what I've been seeing, but I think I've just been fooled by the greatness of Kyrie Irving. Hopefully some of these draft pics pan out but right now, its not looking too bright.

More things we learned:

Waiters ran out of steam down the stretch.

He might have regressed a little bit, but I don't blame him for not being lockdown on defense for this game, because Toronto REALLY beat him up tonight. I was surprised he even came back in the game at all after that nasty looking injury, and I give him a lot of credit for that.

The one thing that probably bothers me the most...how is Byron Scott always so calm in his post game interview? If I was responsible for this team, I would be completely ripping into them after the lack of defensive effort they showed tonight.
