Game 29: Cleveland Cavaliers @ Boston Celtics - December 28th, 2013 - 1 P.M [EST]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Cavs talent isn't as awful as we think. Mike Brown is as awful as we think.

I don't mind Dion taking the last shot, but going to your left? Really? Bad idea. Not fouling was completely idiotic. There was time for us to have a couple of more possessions.

And Brown drawing up final plays is hilarious. Let's get Kyrie running away from the ball so it takes a pin point pass to get it to him. Just awful. Only good news is Bennett got some burn and made some quality basketball plays to go along with his mishaps. A loss is a loss. Battling back from down 24 means nothing. Just like losing close games to Miami and Portland means nothing.

Mike Brown didn't draw that play up for Dion, he drew it up to get the ball to Kyrie the ball with 10 seconds left. They ran him through a double screen to get him matched up with Humphries. Dion broke the play and drove.

I think the last play was drawn up to get Clark a mismatch with bradley for the last shot with Kyrie as a decoy to set it up, Clark first hesitated and then took the dribble. He only had time to take a quick shot or a quick dribble.

Great ball movement in the fourth quarter. Dion took the ball to the whole because he had Brandon Bass switched onto him and Dion had just drove the exact way and gotten an easy layup. Not going to complain about that possession. I also think he got fouled because he was by Bass yet somehow jumping at a guy to hip check him is legal as long as your arms are up in the air.

They played nice team basketball in the fourth and that's how they were ever in a position to make the game close. Kyrie still did his thing but he got help from those around him.

This fourth quarter was a positive sign.

lol you complained when Irving did the same thing to Milsap

You are talking about a completely different play. I'm talking about Earl Clark not even getting off a final shot.

I was responding to the 2nd paragraph which was about Dion's shot. I edited the post to say this about the clark shot.

and to add, last game people complained about Kyrie playing hero ball, now their are complaints other people get plays drawn up for them? Kyrie is our best player, Clark is our best 3 point shooter (well, technically Dellavedova is, but his sample size is small). My only reservation about drawing that play up for clark is he hadn't played in a long time.

Millsap wasn't guarding him. Millsap was guarding the front of the rim with the rest of his team. There was no way for Kyrie to get by him. He should have either pulled up or passed out. Bass was guarding Waiters on the perimeter and no help behind him. Dion should have attacked and when he didn't get by him he should have pulled up or passed out.

This team might literally be the worst team in the NBA right now.

Just so I understand, it's okay to break out of the drawn up play (which had just set up a worse matchup of Humphires on Kyrie) and play hero ball if you aren't Kyrie (our only all star player)?

Irving cant be the only threat in the last minutes. other players need to establish themselves as threat . then you get situations where Kyrie doesnt have to force plays. they are just there.

it wasnt hero ball. it was mismatch Dion had been capitalizing on. it was a one on one situation on a drive.

Dion has that option in the play. he has earned that option on that type of play. you guys really need to learn the different between good basketball and "hero" ball.

lol Irvings egging dion . these two are going to be just fine

It's ok to attack Brandon Bass when he is guarding you on the perimeter and no one is behind him. It's not ok to drive head first into three guys at rim. Dion made a mistake, but driving the ball wasn't it. He's never even touched the ball on a last play possession this year let alone taken the shot, so I have no idea if this is a trend or if he'll learn from it. I do know there is a clear trend with Kyrie, although I am happy he did much better today.

bottom line for the game: horrible first half, encouraging 2nd half, hopefully we can land a SF for Bynum. Hopefully they can build on how they closed the game out, even though it didn't get us the win.

You must have not watched the game. Milsap was guarding him and got past him easily but Korver was there to contest the shot.

I am okay with Dion taking the last shot if Irving is absolutely being denied the ball and there is very little time on the clock.
