Game 55 | Grizzlies @ Cavs | Feb. 24th 2009 | 7:00PM [ET]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
One would think so, yes. There could be some situations where LeBron is on Mayo if Delonte has trouble with him, but hopefully that isn't needed.

Yeah thats true but West is a tough man so I think he will do a good job on Mayo.

A funny tidbit from Fred McLeod's blog. I couldn't figure out a better place to put it.

Back at Cleveland Clinic Courts
Monday, February 23, 2009, 04:13 PM EST

The Cavs continue their game every other day routine against Memphis on Tuesday night...so, just a quick workout on this day (Monday). These guys do a great job of getting their work done, balanced with some well timed levity.

Sasha continues to make progress from that ankle sprain...the way the Cleveland Clinic Courts are set up, players rehabbing can see the floor and stay connected, and vice versa. Sasha was using one pull up exercise which calls for the use of rings, the type you see in men's gymnastics.

Never missing a trick, LeBron looked over and asked, "is Sasha training for the 2012 Olympics?"

During another break in action, LBJ did his imitation of Wally's quick release jumper. He nailed the version of course. Frank Caliendo couldn't have imitated it any better.

Ben got tangled up with Andy on a rebound and pretended his right forearm was twisted out of place, to which Andy reached over and promptly screwed his arm back into proper position. Quick work by Wild Thing. Ben nodded with a big smile..

Cavs-18 Vs Grizzles. Blowout.

Bench time tonight..we have a tough road schedule coming up..

I have a bad feeling about this one...:chuckles:

Don't ever do that again...it's a bannable offense. If we lose or get an injury tonight - you own it!!! Good luck. :)

"G Sasha Pavlovich (Out Assasinating Someone on a bad ankle)"

Can we send him to L.A.? Someone doesn't have enough hurt fingers in his shooting hand. :D

Game Notes:

The Cavaliers have won the last six contests against the Memphis Grizzlies including the last four at The Q.

Sunday’s victory marked Cavaliers Head Coach Mike Brown’s 300th game as head coach of the Cavaliers. Brown has a 188-112 (.627) record and ranks 5th among active head coaches in wins in their first 300 games (220 - Phil Jackson, 206 - Rick Adelman, 190 - Stan Van Gundy,
189 - Rick Carlisle).

With Sunday’s win, the Cavaliers lead the Central Division race by 16 games, and join this year’s Celtics (16.5 game lead in the Atlantic Division) as the only teams to have a lead of at least 15 games this late in the season in their division since the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.

The Cavaliers hold the best home record in the NBA at 25-1 (.962). At home, Cleveland holds opponents to NBA-lows 89.2 points (next best is New Orleans at 91.0) on .419 shooting (next best is Orlando at.424) while averaging 104.5 points (9th) and shooting .483 (4th – Phoenix, Boston, Utah) this season.

The Cavs are 28-0 when they score 100 points, averaging 108.6 points to opponents 93.6 (15.0 point margin) and are shooting .495 while opponents are only shooting .428. Of those 28 games, 15 have come at home and 13 have come on the road.

For the 2008-09 NBA season, the Cavaliers rank in the Top 5 in the following defensive and offensive statistical categories:
The Cavs are winning games by a 10.1 point differential, which ranks 1st, and is the only team to hold a double-digit margin of victory.
The team ranks 1st in overall opponent points allowed per game, the only team to allow less than 91.0 points, at 90.8.
Cleveland is tied for 1st (Boston) in defensive field goal percentage, allowing opponents to only shoot .427 from the field.
The Cavs rank 3rd in the NBA (Portland, Boston) in opponent rebounding, holding teams to only 38.6 rebounds per game.
The team is tied for 4th (New Orleans) in the league (Boston, Milwaukee, Orlando) in opponent points per game in the paint, allowing only 36.2 points per game.

At 18-10 (.643), the Cavaliers possess the 5th best road record in the NBA (L.A. Lakers, Boston, Orlando, San Antonio). After tonight’s game against Memphis, the team embarks on a four-game, five-night road trip and is only four road wins from tying the franchise record of 22 road wins in a season, set by the 1991-92 Cavaliers. Only eight times in franchise history has a team posted more than 18 wins in a season.

Against Detroit, Cleveland shot .556 (10-18) from three point range and are 16-3 (.842) in games in which they make 10 or more three-pointers. The 67 first half points scored ties for the most points the Cavs have scored in a first half this season (Nov. 25, 2008 at New York). Their 36 second quarter points are the most they’ve scored in a second quarter this season.

Cleveland also had a season-low six turnovers, the least they have committed since January 23, 2008, when they had six against Washington. They also dished out 24 assists for a 4:1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Defensively, the team held Detroit to .372 (32-86) shooting and have held their opponent under .400 from the field 15 times this season. The Cavs are 15-0 in those games, including 11-0 at home.

In his first game back after a 16-game absence due to injury, Delonte West scored a season-high 25 points versus the Pistons and added five rebounds and four assists. West was 5-5 from three-point range, tying his career high for three-pointers made. In the first quarter, West scored 13 points on 4-6 (.667) shooting and knocked down three three-pointers (3-3). The last time West scored 25 or more points was on April 16, 2007 when he scored 28 against Miami.

On Sunday, Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 16 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in 23 minutes. In his last three games, Ilgauskas is averaging 16.3 points on .590 shooting and 6.7 rebounds per game.

^^^Thanks Broseph.

nobody mentioned last game against Memphis not too long ago 1/13/09:

We played without Big Z and Big Ben.

We won 102-87. We pulled away in the 2nd half and were up by double digits the whole fourth quarter.

Leborn had a Triple Double, 30-11-10.

Delonte had 19/6/4 while guarding OJ Mayo almost the whole game. Mayo finished with 6 points on 3-9 shooting.

Mo added 16 points. Mo (and others) had a little trouble with Kyle Lowry and with Ben and Z he got to the foul line 16 times. However we do not have to worry about him now since Lowry has been traded.

Mo/Delonte combined were 15-20 from the field.

Cavs shot 12-21 from 3point land. Both teams had 40+ points in the paint. Warrick I remember had a field day downlow with our starting PF/C out.

Lorenzen and Andy started and were just 4-12 with 7 boards and 4 turnovers while also shooting 1-6 from the free throw line. Luckily Mr Hickson had 9 points and 7 boards off the bench

Boobie had 3 3pointers in the game too.

Also of note Darko didn't play for the Grizzlies. He is an above average shot blocker and has other skills that he is plays alot could disrupt our guys inside or out. For one could have Big Ben away from the basket where he excels defensively with help outs.
