whats the score?
whats the score?
Hollins with the lock down defense at the top of the key on Fernandez! LOL
What a study in futility. One starter (Sessions) in double figures, the others got 2,4,5,7. That's 18 pts from 4 starters on 5 for 23 (22%!) shooting. That's just pitiful!
Samardo was 1-8, he played hard but he really struggled against the length. Sessions may have got 14pts on 4-8 but I think he's part of the reason the other starters had such a sh** game.
Umm, no. The other starters are why Sessions play has gone down lately..well basically since Jamison went down. For as much as I hate Jamison, he does space the floor, which for a guy like Sessions is huge. Sessions can beat almost any guard one on one to the rim..his finishing ability depends on how many bigs are still down there to defend the rim. Tonight, the Blazers bigs could care less than Hickson and Samuels were wide open 15 feet from the basket. They WANTED them to get the ball and miss.
The glaring thing about tonight was just how much bigger the Blazers were than us all over the floor. Batum has to be 6'9" and he was guarding our PG for parts of the game. Aldridge and Camby were towering over JJ and Samuels. Hell, Gerald Wallace is as big as JJ--and he is basically a SF. I really like the Blazers chances against the Lakers in the first round. The playoffs in the west in the first round are going to be tight. The Nuggets are balling as well, they are who I want to win the most--just want to see a team who's "superstar" had to leave win it all.
As for us, we really need a floor spacing big--that can defend...well, that and a million other things.
Of course if Sessions could actually shoot the damn ball......but who cares at this point.
Of course. If Sessions was the best PG in the history of the game, maybe, just maybe he could overcome playing with a 6'9" Center who is wildly inconsistent, an un-drafted rookie PF who is also undersized, a D league small forward and a 35 year old SG who really should not be on the floor. A smart D WILL pack the paint on this team and force us to shoot jumpers.
Sessions last 10 games he has shot worse---39.8%, 33.3% on threes, with 5 assists and 2.9 turnovers per game. 8 of the 10 are minus Jamison. The last 2 games Jamison played he shot right around 50%. It is not a coincidence.
Here is something to chew on, the Last 11 games for another PG: 39.4% FG, 25% on threes, 6 assists, 3.27 turnovers per game
His team has won 10 of those 11 games. People think he is the MVP. He can NOT shoot. The major difference at this point, his team has the best D in the league and he actually is playing with real live NBA players. And don't read this as I think Sessions is a top 5 PG in the league, I am using some of these numbers for perspective.
