Game Thread | 2022-2023 Pre-Season | Game #2 | 76ers @ Cavs | October 10, 2022 | 7:00 p.m. EDT

I miss the game! What happened? No Embid and we got beat down at home???

The Sixers had seventeen 3's to five for the Cavs. A 36-point difference. We were 5-for-21. Huge difference from last week's game where we hit six or so in the first quarter and 14 in the game at 42.4%.

They did not have Embiid tonight; we did not have Mobley, Love, and Rubio.

Maxey can score whenever he wants on us. 40 points in 40 minutes over the two games. 15-for-25 from the field. So can Embiid. The Sixers are going to be tough to beat this year if they all stay healthy. Tucker is a screen setter with a deadly corner 3. He fits in perfectly with these guys.

Without a big man tonight they were swarming on defense and trapping the ball handler coming around a screen. They really showed a lot of defensive intensity. Allen looks so awkward under the rim at times and he throws up air-balls off the glass from point blank range. He would do better to gather himself and power to the rim, drawing contact.
Mobley played last night, 18 minutes.

That was Brobley tho

Brobley can handle the ball and rebound. I will give him that. His handle is better than his bro's IMO. He started backing a guy down, got stopped but kept the handle and got the assist. That was his best play

I think his defense translates, but vets are going to cook him for awhile. Future starting 3.

It also means if we have an injury to any of our top 4 guys we’re cooked

I'm fine with this. As teams build to compete, their depth and cap space shrink. Golden State without Curry or LA without Davis were atrocious and their depth was mostly car salesmen and janitors.

Very rough opening quarter. Rotations were slow and the Sixers were passing extremely well to the open man. Maxey was on fire after getting a few wide open looks, didn't cool off until Okoro got some burn. Wade took a step back in my eyes after his shooting gathered a lot of good press before last night.

the first game was reassuring this game was concerning

The great luxury last year is that we could take pleasure in just being good. After trading away all our draft picks for an entire decade we need to be on the road to being great or else we’re fucked

The second game gave me so many feelings of last year. What the hell kind of coaching is JBB doing, and we desperately need Ricky Rubio.

Ricky will fix the offense and Mobley will fix the defense…*shrugs shoulders*

It was JBB's fault that the players (in a pre-season game, mind you) had no energy and couldn't make outside shots?

Couldn't agree more. We could just lay back and enjoy the process. Now the stakes are high and we are expected to win and play well. It's a different story entirely.. I wonder what is the more enjoyable one.

It's going to be hard to have a more enjoyable year than last year. Even if they do better, last year was damn fun. TH eway it ended spoiled it a bit, but crushing teams when we didn't expect then to be good is just hard.

Its better to pull a 20 you didn't know you had out of your pocket than a 100 you did.
