Game Thread | Game #12 | Cavs @ Warriors | Nov. 11, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Love literally spends the first 5 seconds after getting a rebound looking down court, trying to see if he can throw a 40 foot pass to the other team.
I hate when he does that

Love has had the best outlet pass in the league for years….I’ll trust his judgement on that!! Garland is this team’s PG so it’s his job to push the ball up court after he gets the ball, stop all the time consuming dribbling and get the team into its offensive sets!

It seems really odd to me that the defending NBA champions would drop so far the next season. I ain't buying it, yet.

The Warriors are cooked in my opinion. Their payroll is $189 million. The salary cap is $134 million with the tax level at $162 million so they are paying a tax. Next year they are committed to $214 million for 12 players, including Thompson and Green, who are showing their age and clearly in decline. Thompson will get $43 million next year. He's playing 28 minutes a game and shooting 36%.

Poole will average $31 million for the next four years. That might have been a mistake.

The engine that drives the train is 34 years old. He will make $52 million, $56 million, and $59 million the next three years. They better hope he can keep playing at this level.

As for this year they are 4-7 overall, 0-6 on the road, against the 7th easiest schedule and with no significant injuries - so far.
If they were forward thinking they would trade Green and Thompson. People would bite and their best days are WELL behind them.

What we need is at least one of bench player be able to produce at least 14 pts on a regular basis.Mitchell cant carry that team himself producing over 30 pts per contest and not getting much help from other guys.We will ride Spida to the ground way before plaoffs.Yes,Allen and Mobley are not far away from producing max of their abilities in terms of points, but we need bench to step up,because Garland is nowhere near of his all-star status yet and there’s a chance he wont be the one.And yes,we were much better having Spida as pg,but LeVert wasn’t best sg either. That’s where Markannen could help us and take defending pressure of Mitchell. We need better sg/sf for sure for starting five, and one(better two) sharp shooter for the bench.I would consider LeVert,Okoro,Cedi, and if needed DG as trading pieces.Okoro and Cedi in priority of course.

I hate how DG is playing right now but unless we are getting a top tier player in return he stays! However Cedi, Okoro, Windler and possibly Dean are my chips for a quality SF (but what real quality SF is available that’s the right age for this team) but I’m not giving up young players for an aging SF (but I would look at Gordon Hayward because at his age he’s still productive)

Darius Garland, Kevin Love...

First of all, Garland is not close to being himself. The Cavs are 2-4 in games he played in and 6-0 when he was out. When he is on the floor the Cavs are being outscored by 17.6 points per 100 possessions. The only players worse are Mobley (-19.5) and Okoro (-21.8).

Last year the Cavs outscored their opponents by 13.9 points with Garland on the floor - by far the best on the team. So at this point they are 31.5 points worse than last year when Garland is in the game.

Part of that is the Cavs are now using two point guards whereas last year Garland was it. Now he's bouncing back and forth between being the initiator of the offense and playing off the ball while Mitchell initiates.

When Sexton was here the pairing with Garland didn't work and it's not working with Mitchell and LeVert, either. Garland is shooting 35% from the field and 30% on 3's.

Part of it could be the eye injury. He was out two weeks, but scored 29 points in his first game back, so it doesn't seem like the time off is a factor.

The Cavs most commonly used lineup by far is DG/Mitchell/LeVert/Mobley/Allen with 212 possessions. That lineup is being outscored by 9.3 points per 100 possessions (114-105).

Take out Garland and put in Wade (moving LeVert from the 3 to the 2), and the lineup outscores the opponents by 24.5 points, an increase of almost 34 points. Obviously Wade is not the same level of talent that Garland is, so my conclusion is that they do better with Mitchell at the point, LeVert at the 2, and a big front line of Wade, Mobley, and Allen. Everybody is playing their natural position. (I consider LeVert a 2-guard).

If you put in Osman instead of Wade the result is the same: +25.8 points.

Garland and Sexton together didn't work. I'm not sure Garland and Mitchell will work. In that case, what are the Cavs going to do? Play Garland and Mitchell 24 minutes a game each? Of course not.

They have to find a way for these guys to be on the court together and function smoothly. It might be simply a matter of having one of them spot up in the corner or on the wing while the other runs a middle pick-and-roll.

Garland has only played in five games plus one quarter of the opener. It's very early. But I'm concerned. When Rubio gets back it's only going to complicate things.

I
Woodford is the best Bourbon coming out of Lexington

Now drive 2 hours West and try the best Bourbon coming out of Louisville.

You cant go wrong with Angel's Envy.

I've toured both distillery's as they are both just 2 hours from me. Woodford's distillery smells like honey and oak, so I feel I can taste that in each sip. Angel's Envy's distillery smelled like burnt chocolate and syrup but I prefer their Rye over anything else coming out of Kentucky.

When @RonG toured the Jack Daniels distillery with me a few months ago, the whole place smelled like corn and grain, so I've been keeping a bottle on my bar now when I didnt use to keep it in stock.

Moral of my story:

Drive down to Louisville and tour Angel's Envy. You'll forget all about Woodford and HER moving forward :chuckle:

I am an Angel's Envy fan, I prefer the ones finished in the port casks.

TX is a good one as well, a little sweeter with almonds and marsh mellow finish.

It seems like Garland picked up smoking the herb with Mobley and Allen this offseason. Can't catch the ball, bouncing it off leg, slow and lethargic, tell-tale signs of cannabis abuse.
