Game Thread | Game #13 | Timberwolves @ Cavs | Nov. 13, 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As a team the Wolves came in shooting 32% on 3's and 29% on 3's in road games. Tonight they hit 50% (12-for-24). It was an unusually hot night for the Wolves from deep and a really bad night for the Cavs on free throws. It took both for the Wolves to get this win.

I loved the 16 offensive rebounds and only 10 turnovers. And Okoro was a team high +15 and hit his first 3-pointer of the season.

Wasn’t able to to watch, can someone explain Mobley? 1-4 in 32 mins
I said it before the game started and said I didn’t expect much from Mobley going up their twin towers! But SHIIIIIIT…..32 mins and 1-4 for four points?????? WTF???

First, get healthy. Down our best player, our defensive anchor, and our most versatile bench contributor tonight. We have too many holes without Mitchell, Allen & Wade. Second, get Mitchell and Garland playing well together. They’ve both gone off without the other. Need them to figure out how to do it together.
My man,we lost 4 games prior to that with both our best player and our defensive ancor!

Neto being -17 in 5 minutes must be a glitch
He’s pretty easily exposed without a star offensive player on the court. His minutes should come solely with Mitchell in and Garland out.

Falling to earth real hard here.
I don't think so. With Allen and/or Mitchell this is a Cavs' blowout. The Wolves were fully healthy.

The game was lost in the final minutes of the first quarter. With 5:40 to go the Cavs trailed 15-13. At that point Neto and Lopez came in for Garland and Mobley. Neto played the next 5:25, leaving with 15 seconds left and the Cavs trailing 36-18. They were outscored 21-5 in those five minutes.

It wasn't all Neto's fault, of course. Lopez was in for Mobley and Diakite was in for 2.5 minutes (and was a -9).

My point is that if Mitchell and Allen were available we would have never seen Neto, Lopez, or Diakite, and those guys were on the floor when the Wolves outscored the Cavs by 15 points in just over five minutes.

The Wolves went with Towns/Gobert, Russell, Edwards, Prince, and Anderson during those five minutes. Bad mismatch.

One more thing I noticed. At the end of the first quarter Taurean Prince launched a long 3-pointer at the buzzer, getting the shot off with 0.2 seconds left. He missed badly, but Garland was called for the foul. It was an extremely stupid foul as Prince was well behind the 3-point line and had to rush the shot. Prince made all three free throws.

Then at the end of the second quarter Garland made his buzzer beating 3-pointer and by chance the ball came right to him as he was running off the court. I watched it again this morning and it looked like he was just tossing the ball aside and it accidently hit Gobert, drawing a technical. When JBB became enraged he got one, too, and Prince hit the two free throws.

That's five points the Cavs gave away in the final second of the first quarter and after the second quarter was over. And the Cavs were down 124-122 with 32 seconds to go.

We have yet to witness a fully operational Mothership.
Yeah, Garland had to overcome first the eye injury, then a sprained knee, then a three-day illness. Now it looks like he is finally back to normal and we're missing Allen, Mitchell, and Wade.

If Allen and Mitchell can go against Milwaukee we could see a hell of a game Wednesday night.

"The guards did a great job denying the ball to their main guys. I saw [Evan] Mobley was going to be the release, and just did my job, but it started with my teammates doing theirs," said Gobert, who besides the critical steal, piled up 15 points and 13 rebounds. "In the first half, I deflected [a pass], but it ended up in Garland's hands, and he made the shot. So I'm happy it didn't happen twice."
