Game Thread | Game #14 | Cavs @ Bucks | Nov. 16, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just getting smoked from 3, and the bench production has been terrible. I'm not concerned about starting offense.

Two of our best defenders (JA and Wade) are looking more and more injury prone.

I don't know how to fix this.

I mean it's pretty much what we all thought. All their resources have been spent on the backcourt and on their 2 bigs. The wing position is just a wasteland in a league that is basically a big wing league.

It's going to be tough sledding in the playoffs when they have to go against Tatum/Brown combo in Boston or Giannis/Middleton in Milwuakee. Middleton/Jrue didn't play tonight and Jordan Nwora goes off. The Cavs just don't have an NBA caliber starting wing on the roster and obviously not enough shooting from the perimeter either. Wade is probably the closest thing we have to filling the role. I like our team but it is what it is.

Not really sold that JBB/Walton will be able to solve the puzzle either.

Right now Mitchell and Garland are both much better individually than the sum of their parts. Something will need to give in terms of at least one of them changing their game to mesh. In the meantime LeVert should not be on the court with them further mucking things up.

I think they can probably make a minor move at the deadline to bring in some kind of wing shooter who can at least come in off the bench to add a little shooting punch. However, they likely are not going to be able to solve the starting wing problem this season.

I'm hoping a Wade/Stevens combination at the 3 will provide good defense and just enough scoring to complement our scorers at the other four positions. I'm not confident, but what else have we got?

LeVert is a shooting guard with a career 43% shooting percentage. Okoro has no offensive game and his defense is overrated, IMO. Cedi can't create his own shot and is a liability on defense and the glass.

If Garland and Mitchell can gel, Wade as the starter would work best with both Allen and Mobley being non-shooters. Its the best combo of spacing and defense. Love, Stevens, & LeVert then ought to make a good second unit core. Staggering other starters or bringing in other bench guys according to matchups with those three also ought to provide both scoring and defense. I know there tends to be a natural pecking order in professional sports according to draft and salary and to to mess with that can lead to chemistry problems, but dealing with personalities/conflicts is what good coaches do. Okoro, Levert, & Love all "outrank" Wade & Stevens, but that can't get in the way of getting our best lineups on the floor.

Wade needs to stay healthy first.

Wade needs to stay healthy first.
While he’s been pretty healthy as a pro, his college history makes you nervous. This bursitis thing that his high school coach reported he’s dealing with now should clear soon and likely not happen again. I was glad to hear it wasn’t related to the meniscus tear from last year. As we’ve seen this week, after trading Markk & Abaji, we need Wade playing well.

MItchell was dumpster fire tonight.

You need to come to grips with the reality of the situation. All of the draft picks are gone. The best tradeable contract we had, Markennen, is gone. The idea that we're gonna get a freaking 6'8 player who can shoot, defend, and create with what we have left is fantasy land, pie in the sky stuff. We chose to trade for Mitchell. That's done and over. You're not getting that player now.
Its seems like Cavs is the only team that either have bad scouts,so even our 5th pick is abysmal,or Cavs is not good organisation to develop any talent whatsoever. Most other teams dont have problems to have late draft pick to produce in 2-3 years.

I also was locked out of the site last night.

It was a sad loss, but not unexpected. A road game, missing Allen, I figured we had a 45% chance of winning.

For those throwing in the towel after this losing streak, I must remind you we had a 5 game-losing streak in 2015 with Lebron, Kyrie, and Love. Those three were still learning to play together. Then we got red-hot in March and continued it into the playoffs. Then we lost Love against Boston and Kyrie against Golden State and took them to 6 games. That team would have been world champions without those injuries.

So I'm sticking with my 53-game prediction. We've shown flashes of greatest this season. We must play defense consistently. Missing Allen, our best defender and Wade, our best defensive wing, makes that impossible.

This had to be the only game in history with two sets of brothers right? Never mind giannis has his brothers
