Game Thread | Game #14 | Cavs @ Bucks | Nov. 16, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nothing has changed in this team’s need! We are still in need of an athletic long wing player (6’8) that is capable of stroking the outside shot with consistency and able to create his own shot off the dribble.
And I don’t want to hear another complaint about JA. Without him this defense is a sieve.
And no more comments about Mobley being able to become an ALPHA! He’s not even an “Alfred” to Mitchell’s “Batman”! He’s a “Commissioner Gordon”

Before Garland came back LeVert was finding use as a secondary playmaker. He had game after game where he was getting 6 and 7 assists.

That's gone now.

This starting trio just doesn't work at all. LeVert is basically just a hustle player out there now. Completely not utilizing what he can give you due to playing with two guys who will handle the ball more than him.

We're in trouble.

MItchell was dumpster fire tonight.

You need to come to grips with the reality of the situation. All of the draft picks are gone. The best tradeable contract we had, Markennen, is gone. The idea that we're gonna get a freaking 6'8 player who can shoot, defend, and create with what we have left is fantasy land, pie in the sky stuff. We chose to trade for Mitchell. That's done and over. You're not getting that player now.

They've got LeVert's expiring and Love's expring.

But you guys are gonna have to get used to most of these guys being relied on, because there are no more bullets in the chamber to really make a big move. All of the draft picks are gone.

So I'm telling you now, you won't find a better starting wing than Dean Wade this year.

Accept it.

Doubling down on this one. I do believe they can improve the end of the rotation with some savvy and a little luck. I've been quietly mentioning McBuckets for Okoro, Windler and a second... something that just solidifies the eighth or ninth man is the ceiling before the trade deadline.

Didn't expect a win tonight, so I just watched to see how the Cavs approached this game, down Jarrett Allen.
Decent first half. Disastrous 3rd quarter. Ultimately gave out victory cigars to the Bucks well before the end of regulation.

Allen too valuable on defense. Mitchell couldn't buy a bucket in 2nd half.

This team doesn't actually have an offensive playbook. All the promising things that were seen earlier were not present. Mobley's approach to the screen is very frustrating.

Lamar Stevens should have been playing, even in limited minutes off the bench well before now.
Okoro wasn't horrible, but his habit of not moving off the ball really limits his efficacy.

They gameplanned to let everyone NOT named Giannis beat them... and they did.
The Cavs perimeter defense = The Browns run defense.

Offensively, they have to put something together that isn't some version of the Pick & Roll and Savior Ball.... LeVert was pretty horrid in that regard.

Results are what they are in these conditions.

Hope the Nets Fire Sale actually happens. Royce O'Neale would be great here.

The positive is that they were able to limit Giannis somewhat. Okoro had a few not-crap moments. DG is slowly getting his swag back. Looked pretty good from 3 tonight.

But DG/DM/LeVert lineups need to end.

Of all the positions to miss on, Small Forward is killing the Cavs.

LeVert will be better when he can come off the bench and Cedi gets moved to 9-10 man. Right now? It's rough, especially when he goes Leroy Jenkins Mode.

Gianni’s, Lopez and a bunch of benchwarmers.. pathetic

LeVert’s disappearance/ regression certainly has made our rotations more difficult for JBB. There’s a growing list of offensive non-entities who can’t be on the floor simultaneously, i. e. LeVert, Okoro and RoLo. Osman is on that list more frequently of late and KLove hasn’t done a thing either of late

I wonder if all these players regressing possibly has something to do with bad coaching? Just a thought

I didn’t say we were getting that type of player…..I said that’s the type of player we need!
But trust me we have the assets (Okoro, Cedi, LaVert and second rounders/not to mention Love’s expiring contract) to get that type of player IF he were out there and available!

It's been some sad basketball folks, but I'm not jumping off the wagon. Some of you can say we are fucked, or we need this or need that, but we are going to snap out of the funk like every good team does. The 2 wins versus Boston showed me enough. They weren't fluke wins, we ran great stuff, hit timely shots. It'll return.

Last year Rubio, Love, Cedi, and others were overkill. I have high hopes in that again. We just have to keep playing through it. Allen is a key part to the team, we need him to be playing and locked in from the start. Rubio is going to be a key part too. Just wait and see. The bench is going to be really good soon.

The only move that needs to be made is inserting Wade in the SF spot. That's it.

Rubio-Levert/Spida-Cedi/Levert-Love-Mobley/Allen is going to run 2nd units out of the gym. Just wait.

What if he never makes the move though? He was even starting Okoro over levert for a period last year. I don’t trust JB

For some reason I could not get onto this website until this morning. Sorry about that. But it's probably for the best. I wrote that if Holiday and Grayson Allen are out the Cavs should win.

This game was lost in the first six minutes of the 3rd quarter when the Cavs were outscored 20-6. The rest of the game was 32-32.The first half was 61-60. It was six minutes of bad basketball when the Cavs came out flat that decided the game.

Mitchell had 16 in the first quarter and 7 the rest of the game. He just disappeared. We needed him and Garland to get some buckets and assists starting the 3rd quarter, but everybody went cold at the same time while the Bucks got hot.

To be fair, Brook Lopez had a shooting night like he may never have again. He averages 16.6 and got 29 on 7-for-9 on 3's. He's a 36% shooter from deep. We had to double Giannis which left Lopez open on the pick-and-pop. Once he made his first one everything he threw up went in.

Nwora came off the bench to score 21 points in 29 minutes, mostly from deep. He was shooting 28% from deep this month but went 5-for-9 last night. The Bucks hit 41% of their 3's, well above their season average.

The Cavs bench was demolished again, 45-20, and seven of those points came after both coaches cleared their benches. Love, Cedi, Okoro, and Robin Lopez combined for 13 points in 72 minutes.

During this losing streak our bench has been consistently outplayed and opponents have been killing us on 3's. What's especially discouraging is the Bucks had three starters out and five of their guards are out with injuries. Yet their bench still totally dominated. Normally Carter, Portis, and Beauchamp come off the bench.

When the Bucks get Middleton, Allen, and Holiday back, not to mention Joe Ingles, they will be unbeatable.

As for the Cavs, it's clear the Garland/Mitchell/LeVert grouping does not work. LeVert was 1-for-5 with 2 points in 20 minutes. He still can get an uncontested 10-footer in the paint anytime he wants, and he still can't make them. That guy who put 41 on the Celtics was a mirage.

They need to turn LeVert, Cedi, and Love into one good wing, but I don't know if that is possible.

The announcers mentioned that Giannis physically looked like Mobley when he entered the league. Giannis was 18 when he played his first game (at age 27 he's in his 10th season!). At 21, in his third season, Giannis averaged 16.9 points and 7.7 rebounds on 50.6% from the field. Mobley, 21, in his second season is averaging 15.1 points and 7.5 rebounds on 56.1%. Almost identical.

We can only hope that Mobley bulks up and grows into a similar player, only with a better shooting touch. I don't think he has the frame to gain 27 pounds of muscle which would make him the same size as Giannis, but I'm hoping for a somewhat slimmer version with a better shooting touch.

Last year Jarrett Allen was the key player on the Cavs. Their record when he was out was worse than when any other player was out. And their lineup with Dean Wade at the 3 this year is over 30 points better than with LeVert at the 3.

I was saying this before the season - start Wade at small forward. I just hope the knee soreness is temporary and not a lingering thing.

Couldn't log on yesterday.I've seen enough, Wade needs to be the starting SF going forward.

So nobody wants to talk that Garland and Mitchell have zero chemistry on the court ?
