Game Thread | Game #20 | Cavs @ Pistons | Nov. 27, 2022

That was.... a win.
Thankful for it, and considering they have a back-to-back with the Dinosaurs tomorrow I won't dwell on it too much.

The Cavs still seem to lack legit offensive sets to go to when things get tough; heroism on someone's part feels like it is required to win.
At least we got to see more Diakite, who I believe should see more minutes ala Lamar Stevens in the "PF" rotation.
They did the right thing and gave Lopez the boot at the first opportunity of subbing.
The team's defense and scoring ability without Allen takes a dive.
This Pistons team had hardly anyone of their ideal lineup. No Cade, no Ivey, no Stewart, still no Bogdanovich, etc. Jalen Duren was there, though.

Ideally I would like to someone that can play 4/5 (in small ball setups) who is a little more bulky yet mobile to come in when Allen is absent or sits. Don't know who that is in the NBA, much less if that person is available.
I-Hart!

Whoa. Why would a team as bad as the Pistons lead the league in made free throws per game?
Did you see the game? The Pistons are 29th in assists. They take turns going one-on-one, getting into the paint and then throwing themselves into the defender as they put up the shot. They definitely try to initiate contact.

Ellis Burks leads the Pistons with 6.6 free throw attempts per game off the bench. I watched him closely. He definitely walks the fine line between an unnatural shooting motion to draw contact and getting fouled legitimately. One time he missed a shot badly because he tried to throw himself into the defender as he released the ball, missing both the defender and the shot.

So, a team of James Hardens, basically?

An abomination, through and through.

I think he knows that Toronto is a scheduled loss so he threw everything he could at Pistons.
Yep. He's going for one win out of the two games and Detroit with four starters out was the best chance. Tonight we probably see a lot of Neto, Diakite, Wade, and Okoro.

That's good. If that's true we'll kick their arse! That crew might actually drive and kick to wide open teammates.

Interesting interview with Duane Casey. He gave the Cavs credit for 'playoff-level' defense.
