Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Turns out that adding Garland to Mitchell was the hard part.
Truly has been. I’m sure we’re all reading too much into body language, or I hope we are, but I assume we’d have growing pains just based on style, not ego.

It’s entirely possible that’s all imagined, but it does appear Darius thinks he should have ball during crunch, when it seems obvious Mitchell should. He’s simply in his prime and a much better player at this point. Darius as anything but selfless never entered my mind going into season, so I’ll chalk it up as imagined. He’s certainly the one having growing pains though with the pairing. Mitchell is flourishing here. I’m sure they’ll figure it out. Both seem like good kids and we have won.

I just got a flashback to Lebron joining Kyrie--and Kyrie not liking Lebron having the ball in crunch time.

I thought Okoro deserved it.. his entry slowed the initial barrage so we could stay in the game, the finished the game with triple and some key rebounds while Mitchell went to work..

I think Garland has ambition to be that last five minutes guy, but Mitchell is the assassin in the room right now, gotta let him TCB. You can't just call your own number. Garland is 10x more dangerous when he is finding his teammates, than when he is playing hero ball..

I think an issue I see right now is that it feels like we have two combo guards and no point guard.

Maybe that works but I do wonder what we'd look like if Garland just took on more of a floor general, lets get into the offense, role.

I agree. Need to have an offense to get into is the problem.

That's as ugly as it gets, but I'll take it. The Cavs clamped down in the second half defensively, holding the Pistons to 36 points after they got 56 in the first half.

The Cavs were 3-for-21 on 3's after three quarters but hit five 3's in the 4th. They pulled out of their funk just in time, going 5-for-7 from deep. That was the difference, along with the defense.

Mitchell came through in crunch time with 14 points in the 4th. Garland was 4-for-19 and normally we have no chance when he has a game like that, but luckily Detroit was missing four starters or this would have been a loss. The Cavs have been lucky with opponents' injuries recently.

The Pistons, who lead the league in made free throws per game, missed 12. The Cavs caught a break. The Cavs were 28-for-33 from the stripe.

With Allen and Love out Mobley played 40 minutes with 20 points and 13 boards. He definitely deserved some JYD consideration, along with Mitchell. Okoro played some great defense down the stretch, forcing some missed shots and grabbing rebounds. He was a team high +14. He hit a huge 3-pointer early in the 4th to get the Cavs going. Next thing Wade hits one and then Mobley.

I hope Allen can go tomorrow. And that Siakam is out.
