Game Thread | Game #21 | Cavs @ Raptors | Nov. 28, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
7-38 from three. Versus 12-25

Really don’t even have to go far beyond that to analyze tonight’s game.

Onto the next one. We’ll have to get the Raptors back when we get healthy.

I saw the raps have played 5 games since the 16th. Cavs have played 8 and are on the 3rd in 4 nights.

They were already tired(and maybe sick) last night and all 3 games were on the road.

And no JA.

Only thing I take from this game is Mobley was pretty good and physical getting rebounds.

It sucks, but any normal night the raps would be buried from 3. They are 25th in 3s and shot 50% tonight.

The Diakite thing is completely mind-blowing. Who cares if he can only be with the team 50 games, he should have made the trip knowing this is a bad matchup for Lopez and 2 rotation bigs are out.

As soon as the opening tip went off the Cavs shrunk at the physical play of the Raptors! This is a replay from the first game! They played the bully, pushed us in the chest, and we ran home crying. I know it’s not their style of play but Cavs need to get somewhat physical with teams and not let them punk em!

Mitchell needs to take more than 11 shots!

Dead legs. That's the only explanation for 7-for-38 on 3's, most of which were totally uncontested. The legs were dead.

If the Cavs just go 12-for-38 (31%) that's 15 more points in a 12-point loss.

Dead legs and no Jarrett Allen added up to a loss. If we get them with Allen and not having played the day before we'll beat them.

LeVert hurt the team way more than he helped, but it was good for him to get the first game back under his belt in a game we weren't going to win anyway.

Mobley and Garland played well - everybody else played well below their capabilities. Okoro was 1-for-11.

The defense was very good, holding the Raptors to 100 points and 44%. Unfortunately, they were 12-for-28 from deep, over their season average and 15 points better than the Cavs on 3-pointers.

The Cavs only had 9 turnovers against the team that leads the NBA in forcing turnovers, so that was good. We also held them to 7 offensive rebounds and they average 13 and had 17 two nights ago.

If Allen could have played and just a little better 3-point shooting we could have won tonight. But there were some good things - the defense, the defensive rebounding, minimal turnovers, getting LeVert 29 minutes to reacclimatize, and the play of Mobley and Garland.

When Mobley drives he has that long step where he can pick up the ball at the free throw line, take one step and be at the rim. He's starting to do that with authority, leaning into the defender, taking the contact, and still getting the layup. His jump shooting is a work in progress, however.

I’m glad I turned it off at halftime once I saw how shit Okoro Lopez and levert was I knew we had no chance. Those 3 players are fucking ass and that’s an understatement

It was tied at 38 midway through the second quarter.

We're on a back-to-back and we're missing Allen, Love, Stevens, and Diakite, and who knows how effective LeVert will be after missing a stretch of games and not playing well before that either. It's also at Toronto, which is always a tough arena to play in, plus their team is finally healthy. I don't know why people here would be so offended that others think this is probably a game we lose lol. We just struggled against Detroit's B-team yesterday. You don't have to try to prove yourself as a "real fan" by asserting we're gonna win before every game and anyone who doubts that is a fake fan. We're -5.0 underdogs in this one, so if you're so sure, put your money where your mouth is because it should be free money.

Not saying it's a guarantee we lose, but it's very clearly going to be a tough game and you can't blame anyone for thinking this is probably a loss. We need to get healthy and we need JBB to start actually making use of his bench. We just cannot survive games without Allen in particular because RoLo is just not effective against most teams.
I guess we found out how effective LeVert was going be after missing a stretch of games and not playing well before that either… About as effective at coming to the rescue as a toddler with a full palette of his own feces to finger-paint with…

I never get this “tired on a back-to-back” thing. I mean, it’s 48 minutes of basketball, with lots of breaks in between.

I ride my exercise bike for 45 minutes most days - pretty hard, a lot of times - and I’m not incapacitated on the second night of a back-to-back. And that’s after doing my DAY JOB for 8-10 hours. And I’m twice as old as some of these dudes!

Suck it up, Fellas! Life is hard, even when you don’t play pro basketball!

It's the traveling across time zones that's the main issue.

I went through all of the Cavs' missed 3s in the game (31).

Only 4 of them were contested: three of them were in the 4th quarter (Mitchell @ 10:43, Cedi @ 7:57, and LeVert @ 3:35) and the other was in the 3rd quarter (Mitchell @ 11:27).

They missed 27 open 3s.

No offense but if your exercise bike threw you on the floor a half dozen times and then ran over you with a 250 pound gorilla on it….. .it wouldn’t be hard to understand.
