Game Thread | Game #24 | Cavs @ Knicks | Dec. 4, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And yeah Garland has honestly been disappointing for me lately. He ran the offense so much better last year. He keeps trying to play like Curry when he should be playing like Nash.
I wouldn't mind him playing like Curry if that applied to his off-ball movement too. But it doesn't.

Let’s hope they can smack LeBron at home on national TV to move to 16-9 and get this bad taste out their mouths.
Doubt it. AD is balling. He's gonna knock Mobley around like a preschooler. Unless we get JA back.

These things are so unpredictable. Unless the Cavs are playing a terrible team I’m beyond predicting anymore. Who could have seen 81 pts against the Knicks? Cavs are still 9-1 at home. We’ll see.

That’s another thing. Garland actually moved off the ball last year. Especially when Rubio was on the floor with him. He was constantly trying to cause chaos and defensive mixup by screening, running off screens, and drawing his defender into the paint where another defender is only to bolt away and get himself a good C&S look.

There’s none of that this year. Garland sits and watches as Mitchell isos and makes no effort to get himself open. And I agree with the other poster that he doesn’t even play with the same joy this year either.

I just missed the team basketball we played last season. It's been missing. DG, DM, and Caris tried to do too much with the ball instead of just trusting the pass and then continuing with some movement off the ball. Rubio should not be so important to this team, but he is. Man I felt bad for Mobley tonight.

I think I saw 4-5 times tonight that we had someone wide open for an easy layup but we never passed them the ball because we were too busy dribbling the air out of the ball.

Just came in to say 2 things...

1) This focus on calling every single travel this season is the worst thing that's happened to the NBA besides the super-team/constant jumping teams shit LeBron started.

2) I thought we had the worst SF situation in the league coming into the season. It's even worse than I imagined... By a lot too. Okoro went from bad to unplayable. LeVert regressed even more somehow. Wade is made of glass. I mean.... When Cedi is your best SF by light-years, you're really in trouble.
Bron catching strays. That Lakers game thread is going to be crazy.

Twas bound to happen…. No Dean Wade coupled with Brunson’s sexiness….

We were Avocado toast from the jump….

And nobody wants to move and waste their energy because they know that's going to happen.

Missed this one. Our Achilles heel this year has been physical defenses. Looking at the score and who we were playing, I’m assuming we didn’t get it figured out.
It wasn't physical defense. We just could not make shots, most of them very open. Couldn't convert on drives to the lane, midrange, or perimeter shots. Shots going halfway down and back out. We were just stone cold and it wasn't because of any tough defense. The looks were there. Ball movement was sporadic. Lots of turnovers and travels but the Knicks had more than we did. They made more of their shots, period.

The Knicks haven't held anybody under 100 this year and we got 81. Vomit inducing. Mitchell and Garland combined to go 13-for-41. The Cavs as a team shot 35% overall and 23% on 3's. In the first game against the Knicks we made 23 three-pointers. Tonight we made 8.

Worst shooting of the season. Tons of uncontested missed shots. Mitchell got 38 on these guys in the first game but I think playing in his home town freaked him out. It shouldn't - this is his 6th game here and he's averaging 25 points.

We really missed Allen as the Knicks' huge center combo of Robinson and Hartenstein were hard to keep off the glass. Hartenstein in particular had a great game with 10 points, 9 rebounds (including 6 on the offensive glass), and a +16 in 14 minutes. The Cavs outscored the Knicks in the 34 minutes he was on the bench.

Diakite got the start and was useless with a -10 in 11 minutes. Love was awful. He looked slow, slower, and slowest. He was abused defensively and got called for traveling twice. The Knicks' bigs took rebounds away simply by outjumping him.

The refs must have gone to a reffing seminar yesterday that focused on traveling violations. They called 12 on the Knicks or this game would have been a blowout. As it was there were 37 turnovers between the two teams. It was an ugly game.

If you told me before the game that the Knicks would have 20 turnovers and shoot 5-for-29 on 3's I'd say the Cavs will win by 20 or more. I don't know what happened. It looked like the Knicks rigged up a movable rim that an employee could move 4" when the Cavs took a shot. The Cavs missed so many uncontested 3's it was ridiculous. Considering they are one of the top five in 3-point accuracy it defies explanation.

22 of the Cavs' 35 3s were open, they made 6 and missed 16.

13 of the Knicks' 29 3s were open, they made 2, missed 11.

It's hard to lose in the NBA when your opponent shoots 18% on open 3s and commits more turnovers.

Bullshit. He kept his pivot firmly on the floor, never moved even a fraction of an inch. Benefit of slo-mo, stop action replay on my DVR, no way he traveled. At least they're calling it on both teams.
???? You call that planted firmly on the floor?

What happened
What is the point of Luke Walton? Our offense is dribble, dribble, DG/Mitchell 3 or handing the ball off to Mobley beyond the 3 point line.

JBB doesn’t strike me as the kinda guy who would listen to other people anyways
