Gary Barnidge

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm just surprised it took coaches until the dude was thirty to say, "Hey, maybe we should throw the ball to him."
I think he mediocre run blocking skills/solid pass blocking skills are why he hasn't been utilized more. Also the one article on him pointed out how he got buried early- 3rd te drafted in 3 years by carolina, then Shockey and Owens were signed, then once he finally got a chance he got hurt. And here he was stuck behind a guy in Cameron who was great until the injuries and concussions caught up with him. Again, just waiting for the bubble to burst: the defensive coordinators you start going ' maybe we should focus on the one guy over 5'7" in the red zone' or for the NFL to ban his sticky shoes or the more typical concussion-blown knee-ruptured spleen major injury.

I get that he was stuck behind talented tight ends, but did he never show in practice before that he was a legit receiving threat? He's caught damn near everything we've thrown to him that was catchable, and has already made two circus catches this year, one of which has a good chance to go down as catch of the year. You'd think some of that would have shown at practice before now and got him some reps. If nothing else, he could have been a potential trade chip for Carolina. And given that he's looked a lot better than Olsen this year despite having a worse quarterback, he could have been Cam's best target.

Catching everything and being able to get open are two different things. Not to mention, again, that he has in the past been a solid blocking TE on teams that already has a pretty good pass catching TE. Cameron and Shockey, when healthy, were better receiving TEs. Barnidge is getting burn because our last TE was adamant about leaving and our GM doesn't appear to care about TEs. Just say a quiet ' thank you' to Mike Lombardi for bringing him in and enjoy the Air Barnidge show while it lasts.

From Matthew Berry:

Finally, lucky case No. 7:

Tight end A: 23 catches on 33 targets for 358 yards and 5 TDs (65.8 standard fantasy points)

Tight ends B & C: 33 catches on 42 targets for 500 yards and 2 TDs (62 standard fantasy points)

Tight end A -- Gary Barnidge in the past four weeks

Tight ends B &C -- Jimmy Graham AND Rob Gronkowski during the past four weeks (seven games total)

I mean, just call him Gary Barnkowski.

does anybody know his status this week? He is listed as probable this week and I have him on my fantasy team.

Was he active? What a dick.
He was probable, but then didn't play. The NFL 'investigated' whatever that means. Pettine said in his presser it was up to Joe and he didn't play, but since went back on his statement.

Joe Thomas sent me this video he took this summer. I'm the black guy at the bar btw. True story.

Gary: Sweet piano
Joe: Do you play?
Gary: Never tried...always wanted to...should i give it a try?
Me: Go for it.
Gary: Ok...

Oh I was there too and the crazy part was that the piano music was not caused by Gary's fingers hitting the piano keys, but by Gary's one foot tapping on the ground !

Gary holds movie trivia on Twitter every week. First ten people to get his answer right get to go out to a movie with him, then he buys dinner and they talk about the film. What the fuck?! His favorite movie is Goonies, then Forest Gump. Can we just go ahead and make him gm now and build a bust outside the stadium?
