Gee Wiz...what's Alonzo's ceiling???

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ugh.

4/16 or 4/20 would be a really terrible contract for Gee.

I am not a huge Gee supporter, but I could live with 4/16. 4/20 starts to get to pricey.

This I like the guy I dont think hes a game changer but for his production this is what people get paid

I think Gee, developing ball skills and getting better at making his own shot, could be a solid 6th man. Kinda like James Harden is for the Thunder. (Not saying, by any means, Gee is or will be as good as Harden)
Gee could be an average starter but be great off of the bench. Not 6th man of the year necessarily, but a good piece for a team moving forward.
Let's say we Draft MKG/Beal and Fab Melo with the 24th pick. Pick up FA Carl Landry (PF) and have him start. Then have Fab Melo, TT and Gee along with a back up PG and SG (using the second rounders) and have that be the second unit. I know that we would be REALLY REALLY REALLY young and unexperienced but hey, it could (in some crazy way) happen. Though i hope it would happen, I doubt it...

What's the mid-level exception? Like 5.76, right? It might have changed with the new CBA, idk. But if it is in that ballpark, the Cavs won't miss out on Gee.

NBA Rumors & Draft News, Day 10

Don’t be surprised if the Hawks make a run at former Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford, who spent the past season with the Trail Blazers. Ray Allen (Celtics) and Alonzo Gee (Cavs) are also said to be on their radar.

Didn't Gee already state he wants to come back to Cleveland?

And rightfully so! The Cavaliers have been good to him. We all know the drill though and when it comes to sports, money often wins out regadless whether or not it should. I'd love Gee back because he brings quality depth and a proven level of talent.

As much as I liked what Gee did and how he developed, it's not the end of the world if he leaves the Cavs. You let him walk if the money starts getting too high. Nice player but Alonzo Gee level players really won't have a huge impact either way on the success or failure of the Cavs building process. Role players are much easier to find than core players.

The thing I like the most about Alonzo (And this isn't to take away from his game at all) is his work ethic. He worked his tail off & showed improvement in his previous problem areas. He just has to get more consistent. He knew his role and didn't go away from what he was already good at. I really think that attitude can be contagious, especially to his fellow young guys.

That being said, I agree. He's not worth overpaying too much & getting into a bidding war over.

He's probably about to lose his starting job so with that said do you pay a back up $4-5 million a year?

He's capable of playing SG or SF, even if he isn't a starter he can be a great 6th man. Yes I pay him 4-5 million a year.

If we pick MKG, Gee will likely move over to SG. At which point in time we will have one of the best young defensive wing duos in the league.

If we pick Beal, Gee will be the starting SF.

Anyone else we draft as a wing will not be the starter (assuming we retain Gee), and will have to take the starting role from Gee. Unless, of course, Scott wants Gee to be a 6th man spark off the bench with starter's minutes.

Scott loves Gee, and Gee has earned an important role on this team. He will be a leader, he knows the system, and he can guard the opposing team's best player.

So no, he's likely not going to lose his starting job, and yes he's worth the money.

I like the idea of Irving/MKG/Gee/Thompson/Varejao !!!

Allows us to take a big swing on upside at #24

Gee is 6`6 and came into the league as a SG. Give me Irving/Gee/MKG/TT/Andy to start a rebuild. Other than Andy, all young and all of them (including Andy) are very very hard working. Gee IMO can be a great 6th man because of his all-aroundness. Most I pay for Gee is 6 million. After that, I say sorry Alonzo, and kick him in the balls.
