Gerald Wallace on the block?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looking at his stats right now, i wonder why would they be displeased with him so far....

ppg. 19.5
rpg. 9.3
apg. 1.8
spg. 2.0
bpg. 1.0
fg%. 52%
3p%. 62%

Larry Brown does this with every team he goes to, no matter how well someone is playing he wants to make trades and dump players to bring in his own type of guys.

Most of the people in the Bobcats organization wanted to draft Brook Lopez, at the last minute Larry Brown told MJ to draft DJ Augustin, even though they already had a point and DJ never worked out for them.

As a coach Brown is great, but given any power he can ruin a team with his BS gm mindset.

I'd love Wallace, but health is a real concern. If we could be sure that he isn't going to ruin our team by trading a rotation player for a guy that will sit out the playoffs you do it without question. He is putting up big numbers right now, and his efficiency would only increase coming to our team. Plus I love the defense, he can guard either the two or three which makes LBJ's job easier.

He's apparently not a "Jordan" guy. For some odd reason MJ isn't a fan of Wallace. It must be an off court rift. Otherwise I can't see why he'd be so dead set on getting rid of him.

I'd love to get Wallace. He's a good on-ball defender and excellent help defender. Him and Lebron would be a pretty crazy defensive combo on the wings. He's extremely athletic. He can slash to the hoop and is a strong finisher, which is really something we're missing outside of Lebron. He is also pretty good at playing off the ball to get his shots. Wallace isn't a great shooter, but he''s not someone that you want to leave open either. He's only 26, so he has a lot of good years left in him. The injuries are a concern though.

I feel like is we wanted to trade for him we'd need to give up West and take on Nazr Mohhamed's big contract, both of which I'd be wary of.

I thought the knock on Wallace was that his shot was inconsistent? How does fit with what the Cavs need?
what about Morrison? Would he fit? and at what cost?

His shot is inconsistent, but he is an elite man defender and is an excellent slasher. He could be brought in to slow down and contain opposing teams stars at the 2 and 3, he would be great on the break, he would also create a lot of fast breaks with his steals and blocks, his ability to get to the rim would open up shots for our shooters....his outside and midrange game is inconsistent, but we have a lot of guys that do that very well now.

He would be good...trust me, you want him here. Plus he is a guy that never complains and gives 100% every night. He goes at it so hard that coaches and staff have asked him to try and pull it back a little because he risks injury on the court...a reduced role is what he would get but he would have his nights where we could lean on him for wins.

Ha, him and Dice....yeah that would make us the deepest team in the league and favorites to win it all.

Yuck, no Nazr. And West is playing great....don't really want to give him up.

Getting Wallace is a long shot for sure...the only deal I like is Wallace/Morrison for Wally. Not sure the Bobcats would want that. Depends on how much they feel like starting over. Morrison would get no run here.

I think between we have a guard rotation of Williams, West, Gibson and Szczerbiak right now. Just swapping Wally for Wallace would work for sure...we would even be able to rest Lebron even more considering Wallace could easily hold down that spot for him and handle the minutes.

We would be really deep at every position. SF we would have LBJ, Wallace, Pavs can play a little. SG West, Wallace, Boobie, Pavs, Kinsey. PG MO, Boobie, West. PF Ben, Dice, JJ, Hickson, AV. C Z, AV, BW, Dice. Damn we are like three deep at every position if an injury would happen. We would possibly be the best team in the league to.

M. Brown's head would spin trying to figure out rotations

Yeah real;ly can you imagine trying to figure out a way to keep all players happy. OMG.

i think we would need to work out a 3 team deal to drop wally and pavs somehow.....

What was mere speculation 6 months ago is now heating up and becoming very true.....I would not be surprised if AK47 was somehow next put up on the block, it's all in place for the Cavs to make a huge deal right now....I know from RealGM that the Spurs want Curry alongside Duncan and Parker, the Warriors would take Curry AND Lee for Harrington, the Knicks really want Harrington, Warriors want to give up G-Wall....we need to get in these discussions ASAP, G-Wall is not someone we can pass up on...the sooner we can acquire him, the easier the transition he can make, the better the chemistry come playoffs.....

Miami probably still needs a pg.......

Miami gets:
Raymond Felton
Adam Morrison

Cavs get:
Gerald Wallace

Bobcats get:
Wally Szczerbiak
Udonis Haslem
2009 first via cavs
2010 first via Heat

I was going to say, isn't G-force one concussion away from retirement? That concerns me a little bit. Otherwise I think he'd be a great fit. What's his contract like?

Very reasonable in dollars, but kinda long... His deal is almost identical to Mo's, only he makes about a million a year more.

It would cut into our 2010 cap space a bit, but could still be managed to maintain flexibility.

Wallace is a strong finisher, accomplished defender, and one of the best swingman shot blockers in the league. On top of that, he's shown that he can still put up numbers like he does playing as a complimentary player alongside other scorers (like JRich & Okafor).

Like Mo, I'd expect his numbers to drop a bit simply because Lebron will dominate the touches so much, but his production I think would be exactly what this team needs.

M. Brown's head would spin trying to figure out rotations

If it was 'essentially' a Wally-for-Wallace swap, I think the rotations become very easy...

Gerald takes Delonte's starting 2-spot, Delonte takes Wally's bench spot. Our starting lineup and bench get even stronger.

I wouldn't say Wallace necessarily takes Wests spot. Wallace could be our Manu...a clear starter, but instead becomes an overpower presence off the bench.

Rotations would be Mo, West, Lebron, Wallace and Z starting. Gibson is your PG/SG off the bench, Wallace is the backup SG/SF, Dice backup 4 and AV back up 5. Hickson and Pavs are your injury reserves and get playing time in blowouts (which with this roster would be pretty often).

Damn...it actually seems more possible than most scenarios brought up here...but I cannot truly believe it could happen.
