Gilbert buying Indians soon ?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Other than Detroit, can you point to a small market team that spends more money than the Indians?

The whole 'we'll spend when the time is right' thing bites Dolan in the ass - but look at it this way - in 2008 and 2009 they had a payroll right around $80 million.

Can you point to small market teams (that have income like small markets - ie - not St Louis) that significantly outspent the Indians?

This is a serious question - I want you to go look at MLB payrolls and find all these teams that are run differently financially than the Indians. Milwaukee and Cincinnati were both going for it last year and had payrolls of $80 million and $70 million respectively. Hell, Texas just signed that GIANT TV contract and had a payroll of $92 million.

If you want to knock the decisions the front office has made, I understand, but please separate the FINANCIAL COMMITMENT of the Dolan from the baseball decisions.

If you ARE going to knock the Dolan's financial commitment - please point to teams in similar situations who are run so differently.

Detroit and St. Louis aren't small markets. Detroit has about twice the population that Cleveland has. And St. Louis is in a unique situation. There was no team West or South of St. Louis for over 50 years, as a result, they expanded their market (radio at the time, TV now) a lot further than a team in say, Cleveland, could. St. Louis may have a population similar to Cleveland's, but by no means do the teams have similar market sizes.

I completely agree - but know that those who disagree with me on Dolan would point to those immediately so I thought I would just call it out in the original post.
