AV GUARDING NASH
If it was Brown who decided that Varejao should be guarding Nash then I will give him quite a bit of credit. That was an absolutely brilliant move. I remember Walton and whathisname saying "Nash's eyes went wide when he saw Varejao comin out on him". I was thinking the same. After that AV just started killin Nash.

Nash runs a rhythm offense and AV's GREATEST attribute is a terrific ability to throw off his man's confidence and rhythym on d. He was killin Nash most of the time.

SO MUCH CREDIT SHOULD BE GIVEN TO AV
Yes, Lebron took the team on his shoulders offensively but AV light a fire under EVERYONE's ass on d. Every time that guy is on the floor the Cavs turn into a different team. Brown has got to keep giving AV BIG minutes. He transforms the energy and style of defense everyone plays.

FIRST HALF DEFENSE
The entire first half of the Suns game had me very critical of Mike Brown. I mean I'd never seen an entire team with their feet off the floor as often as teh Cavs.

There was absolutely no team d being played just a lot of day-late and a dollar-short jumping up and dwon against outside shots. Very frustrating. I kept thinking to myself "And Brown is known as a defensive coach?" The Suns were absolutely shootin us out of the gym.

The Cavs have Gotta gotta GOT TO start playing that defense the whole way thru the game.

I don't want to discredit your theories, but I don't think that AV "guarded" Steve Nash. I wish I had TiVo'd the game as I would look at the second half again. I do recall on several occasions that Snow guarded Nash across the timeline then PHX ran a high screen to get the Nash/AV matchup. I don't ever recall AV waiting for Nash to cross the timeline with the ball. Obviously, AV did a good job of disrupting Nash and preventing him from driving to the rim, but Nash took a lot of 18 footers that he flat out missed. Had he hit 4-5 in a row we would all be ripping AV and Brown for this very matchup. Not that it matters.

In the end, I think it all falls on energy and tenacity at the defensive end which we show a lot of LATE IN GAMES. As I mentioned, we need to play D for the entire 48 mins to be successful. Anyway, JMO.

Well after the NJ game i guess you really have to start giving Mike Brown some sorta props. Drew has monster 1st half but decides to go with Andy V in the second for energy. It might be that we are winning and of course Brown is going to look like a genuis, but I remember this time last year pulling my hair out over the moves Silas would be doing in games. Brown bascially has the same team except for Marshall and Jones going right now and there are times that you look at the lineup and say "This outa be intersting" and everything clicks. It might just be the wins, it might be just Lebron but I am starting to believe in Brown and the atmosphere that is with this team...

It's just light years better this year, with Mike Brown. It makes it even more noticeable when you have last year's team coached by Paul Silas to compare it to. Paul Silas had absolutely no concept of how to properly rotate the players and distribute minutes. He just totally misused Z ...burning him out completely and over extending his minutes. No player on the bench knew of any particualr role that they had on a game to game basis....it was just a mess last year.

This year ,,,the first thing I noticed is that Mike Brown knew EXACTLY how to handle Z's minutes within the structure of the game. He keeps him fresh by bringing him in and taking him out in 7 minute stints ...works to perfection. That is one of the key elements that has lead to Z having his best year as a Cav ..and consitently contributing on both ends of the floor at a far higher level than anyone ever imagined he could. All the players on the bench seem to know their particualr role on the team ..he has a player in a contract year willingly giving up numbers for the betterment of the team ....he has young players developing within the system in Sasha Pavlovic, Anderson Varejao, and Marty A on the horizon ...

The team has been sent in a direction and the players are buying into the long range plan and the defensive concepts being taught ..... we couldn't ask for more at this point in the season.

When we get Larry Hughes back we should be a team ready to meld into quite possibly the 2nd best team in the East ...

Check the standings, as of tonight's win we are the 2nd best team in the east at .614. We hold onto that with a win tomorrow. The goal isn't the 2nd best, it's to be the best team in the east by game 7 of the 2nd round against the pistons.

...and it's not inconcievable that we can get there ...it would take some twists of fate ...maybe an injury in DET ...but....they aren't light years ahead of us ....

But, just the experience of being able to play in a second round series against the Pistons would be such a huge learning experience for us, that even losing at that point would be a huge step forward and would set us up to be propelled to the very top as soon as next season ...

Wishfull thinking to say we can catch Detroit...they are just too good. We wont even come within 7 games.

Mac neither one of them was talking about catching Detriot they were talking about beating them in the playoffs.

I think Mike Brown has been doing a much better job of late....he has some lapses last night. We came out and played just horrible in the first half. Nothing but awful off-balanced and perimeter shots. Z and Drew seemed to be able get inside but the Cavs kept on settling for jumpers that were not going in. It's Mike Brown's responsibility to get them re-focused and running the offense. It happened again in the 4th when we started hoisting 3's from everywhere and blew our lead. Fortunately MB's defense shut them down and won out.
MB is a huge improvement over Silas because he has won the players over....they believe in him. It took some time, but they have slowly bought into his defensive scheme. Now he has to start showing some authority and get these guys running the offense instead of settling for 3's. We are a poor 3 pt shooting team....we are 25th in the league.
There are 3 games in January that we literally shot ourselves out of -
Houston - 7 of 29
Knicks - 6 of 28
Portland - 6 of 23

With the slashers and interior players we have we should never live and die by the 3. The excessive 3-balls and a tendancy to forget about his All-Star center are my only complaints about Mike Brown. That said, he is a rookie and he is improving. When everyone is healthy I think we'll be very difficult to beat. When the season is over MB may end up in the top 3 for the COTY award.

Mac, why don't you STFU? Alright. I think me and about everyone here has had enough of your negative attitude.

Oh no! The pistons are too good. Oh no, the cavs suck. Oh no, they are lucky. Oh no, LeBron sucks. Oh no, etc....Ricky is the BEST!!!!

STFU please!

Ya, we are good, and we can beat the Pistons. We beat them before, and we can do it again. You know, they are not undefeatable. They were beat by NJ, and we beat them. We have beat the Pistons by ourselves.

IF we do meet the pistons in the COn final, I will be pretty confident.

Rlaw..you dont speak for anybody but yourself. Dont forget that.

Next, I am realist...i look at things how they are, bottom line. The Pistons are better than the Cavs, period. They have the ability to just toy with teams and still win, the Pistons are on a whole different level than the Cavaliers. If you cant see that, than it shows your level of basketball intelligence.

Lebron doesnt suck, I just said he was one of the top 5 players in the league. But thats not going to stop me from discussing his weaknesses. Why glorify his strengths? We see those everyday, talk about how he can get better will only make the Cavs better. Please learn to follow along.

The Cavs dont suck, Ive never said that. We are a solid team, with a weak bench and a solid starting core. We have a long way to go before we can challenge the Pistons and the West for the Crown, but it can happen here in the next couple of years. Most definently.

Ive never said Ricky is the best, I havent discussed Ricky Davis in a long time for that matter. Ricky is a very good player for his contract, def one of the better players in the league. Just not quiet on the All-Star level.

The Nets beat the Pistons true...than we played them the very next night, and we almost lost. The Pistons are beatable, every team is...but match up wise, we are inferior to them.

So the bottom line is....I never did anything that you just stated in that entire thread. So what was the purpose?

Like Ive said before, you are pretty much useless when it comes to posting o this board. Just assume your role as OT practice dummy at any time.

A Mac=Trash.

All of your posts are filled with negativity. It is one thing to be realistic. It is another when u are 100% negative.

Ruanu, Mac may frustrate you and others at times but that does not mean to go personal with your attacks. Lets keep this forum clean of that. I have differing views to Mac on many things and with him being very open on his views, it can lead to heated discussions. Lets just keep it on the subject matter.
