Gordon suspension reduced to 10, 12 if convicted of DWI

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Huber deserves a suspension way more then Gordon based on all the evidence.

If he keeps hanging out at Rumors on W.6th, then yeah he's going to be inhaling a lot of "second hand" smoke.

While I believe he has a real fighting chance, dude needs to refrain from the hot boxing.

I'll admit to immediately assuming Gordon was just being a dumbass again for failing another test, this is insanely bullshit though. He barely failed an already ridiculous test after passing 70 tests in a row and they want to suspend him for a whole season because of that?

Get your head out of your ass NFL.

I don't want to jinx it, but if all of this is accurate, I'd be surprised if he gets suspended at all.

The NFL simply will not let him go unsuspended, IMO.

As ridiculous as that is.

This is from a a guy who does the lab tests

"15ng/ml is equivlent to you smoking a few hits last weekend at a party and now 5 dyas later have to test with out ever smoking it before and with out flushing your system"

He went on to say that the typical tests is 25 ng/ml or 50ng/ml to fail. The rules for the nfl are ridiculously hard.

Just playing devil's advocate, but if the argument is that he's been clean (because he's passed random tests) and that the test in question was the result of second hand smoke, isn't it contradictory to enter rehab?

He entered rehab after a dui, he can argue his substance abuse is legal, but not healthy.

That was post-DUI to pre-empt the inevitable program he'd have to enter into courtesy of the league's disciplinary committee.

Reports are saying he is bringing witnesses to claim it was second hand smoke. Was the Sherman incident similar with two different results from Sample A and B?

I guess the answer (or solution) would lie in when the last test before the one in question happened. Assuming it can't be proven that Gordon used some kind of tainted sample, if the dirty sample was taken within a week of a clean test, there may be enough doubt there to acquit or leave some room for leniency.

I don't think Sherman's issue had anything to do with that... Apparently, the cup he used was "leaky" and the tester transferred the sample to another cup. The tester's omission of that transfer yielded enough gray area for Sherman's defense to point at the tester. Sounds like Braun, if you ask me.

Hmmm. 15 ng/ml test implies it was a lab done composition test. Which implies that Gordon probably failed the immunoassay test that would be at a higher cutoff (DOT uses 50 ng/ml but some places of business use a lower 20 ng/ml). Basic drug testing procedure is as follows: immunoassay test negative is a pass. If the immunoassay is positive, the sample is tested for its composition in a lab (completely different test with different cut off levels... usually 15 ng/ml). A failure here confirms the failed immunoassay. So its likely Gordon failed two tests, one being this 'cup A' test and another being an immunoassay test that hasn't been mentioned yet.

The discrepancy between the composition and immunoassay cutoff levels are because of what they are testing for. A marijuana drug test actually tests for metabolites (waste byproducts of the drug). The immunoassay test is sensitive to more byproducts and thus has a higher cutoff. A composition test is only looking at one by product and therefore has a lower cutoff level.

But one thing seems likely. Gordon probably failed an immunoassay test before these 15 ng/ml tests....
