Greg Newsome II Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Put him at linebacker

I think it is wrong to assume he's saying "no" to playing slot corner. It was a 2 part question. He gave one answer. My read is that he was being intentionally opaque and ambiguous with his answer.

Typical knee jerk reactions from fans who automatically assume the worst IMO.

It was a two-part question, but only one of the two parts could be really be answered with an aggressive NO answer :chuckle:

(And yes, I know he *could* have been referring to "do you prefer to be on the outside?" but he wasn't. C'mon.

I mean, I would maybe buy it if he didn't also retweet someone posting his man-coverage target rates and the inscription "People lie. Numbers don't. Let Greg do his thing" immediately following the tweet.

Look, all I'm saying is that in my experience, it's things like this that tend to divide locker rooms. Divided locker rooms don't win-- it's that simple. Throw in the numerous off-the-field, and on-the-field issues, on the defensive side of the ball this past season and there's a bit of a concerning pattern where it seems like guys aren't necessarily all about the team. Change the D Coordinator, ok! But again, in my experience, the change has to start with the players.

He's saying Newsome doesn't need to be going to Twitter to air it out. If he's upset with his role, better to do it behind closed with the actual people making decisions.

And like Ed said, this isn't remotely close to "shut up and dribble"

First of all, you dont dribble a football. :chuckle:

You start winning and all the "locker room divide" noise is gone. You lose and there's a ton of dysfunction.

It's the same for every single team. I don't see anything concerning here and I think you're making light of what a change at coordinator can do.

I'm more surprised that, considering enduring 3 (2 for some) years of Woods our players aren't MORE outspoken about misuse.

How similar is this to David Njoku's situation when he requested a trade?

We worked it out and now it's all good. That was about money/role in the offense.

If what the leaks say are true, he doesn't want to play slot corner, most likely because he doesn't want paid like a slot corner. Can that be worked out with Ward and an emerging Emerson?

Rosenhous is smart enough not to go nuclear right off the bat. But if he's there to "discuss his future with the team" that's kind of a giveaway.
