Greg Newsome II Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Either way, I don't think any of his credible sources would play him or else there would've been shenanigans long before. He intends to stick with his story though and says he got played. Must've been a newly added contact. PIPs burner got em!

I don't think Brad got outright lied to. I agree with you that if he got played by a source, it would have happened way before now.

What I said is the most plausible IMO. Brad's source told him they expected a trade request to happen and then meeting took place and it was actually all good.

And Brad, eager to get a nice scoop, reported that the trade request happened without waiting for confirmation on the actual outcome of the meeting.

Newsome played in the slot last year + has been vocal on twitter about not wanting to play there + hired a new agent who was in town to discuss Newsome's role with the team going forward

Newsome didn't ask for a trade but where there's smoke there is fire, right?

Always knew he was a slimeball

As a general matter, it's good that he apologized for his mistake. But he should have left out the whole middle section, especially the whiny "I am confused on why someone would lie to me...." part.

Apart from being poor grammar ("on why"), that reeks of a little kid apology where he's really blaming someone else for his mistake. Should have kept it shorter and then talked to his source privately, because it is entirely possible that source just made an honest mistake also.

Long ago (1996) there was an established practice among reputable media sources (wires, newspapers, TV & radio) that two independent sources were needed before running with a story. The internet killed that. Now one is enough for many (not all) outlets but reporters can get burned easily.

The English media never followed the two source rule; in fact they would set stories up such as phony sheiks promising tons of money for bogus offers to football coaches. They always valued circulation over truth which is a profitable business model if you don't mind ruining people's lives over rumors (not so much in sports but definitely an issue for news and gossip).

That's roughly where I was coming from. While he continually talked about being played in another tweet deflecting his own fault after owning up. It's possible his source made a boo-boo. It's possible Brownstain took something into his own matter and caused a ruckus on BrownsTwitter. Now he's taking a break or whatever. Call it a big time mistake in your young career and that's it.

Let’s all take some to reflect, build, grow, and become anew.

We shall never forget today and lessons we all learned about ourselves.

Good that he owned it. Not a big fan of blaming a source because even if it's true it's a deflection.

If it's generally a trustworthy source, he could have told him "Hey, Newsome just hired Rosenhous and now Rosenhous showed up to meet with the Browns about Gregs future." From there dude could have just taken a guess that it was a trade request.

Either way, I'm shocked the internet lied to me.

The Browns run a tight ship… I do wonder if Brad was fed information by his source, who believed the info, so that the Browns could identify the source.
Checkmate.
