House of the Dragon Spoiler Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Makes sense, that is kinda what I figured. Whole scene was just a little odd to me.

Daemon is such an enigma, hard not to enjoy every second he is on screen. The scene with him singing in Valyrian to the untamed dragon was low key one of my favorites.

Also, we got to see Storms End finally - which imo looked so badass. Way way way better than our shitty glimpse of Casterly Rock at the end of GoT.
I think Daemon being an enigma was kind of the point as well…. Served to remind the audience that they can’t put stock in him as a protagonist (which I was getting sucked into) because he’s still deeply flawed, unpredictable and frankly dangerous.

The dragon he sang to was Vermithor, which was Jaehaerys’s dragon.

I was wondering, couldn’t recall if this was from the book or not.
I don't know what Daemon has planned for Vermithor... I remember one of the clans recruiting riders. I can't recall which side it was. Assuming it's the blacks because of the extra dragons they have floating around. But they haven't planted the seeds for the recruitment, pun intended.

Daemon all but said they’d be trying to find riders for those dragons next season. I assume we’ll get at least a few scenes of those who get rejected and turned to kindling.

I hope we get to see the Cannibal, even though he doesn’t really play any significant role in the story.

The Blacks definitely recruit dragonriders. The Greens don’t have a lot of dragons though so I dunno about them.

But weren't the recruits bastards????

They’ll tape in 2023, and I struggle to think they’re going to tape what they need to in a short enough time frame. I figure early 2025, best case October+ 2024.

Unlike Game of Thrones this seems a lot less broad in locations. Also I think CGI has become easier at least with what all the Disney+ shows showing the behind the scenes of how they make Marvel and Star Wars stuff now. I know there has been some green screen errors in House of the Dragon which makes be believe they are green screening alot more than they did with Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones needed to shoot in multiple locations which was actually some of the problems they had with shooting. The stuff beyond the wall needed to be in winter conditions which I think they missed their window in part to warmer than usual conditions at some points.

If you have Disney+ take a look at some of the behind the scenes shows. They have reduced alot of the need to location shots and have these big screens that can add in terrain. Alot of the CGI can now be created before the scene is even shot and the actors are now in semi immersed environment. The one with Thor love and thunder shows they even have some light pack/Camera system that can take 7 vastly different lighting environments from a single take.

I'm less ok with the Aemond mistake. But I am on board with the series and they haven't shown that I can't trust their decision making yet. So I'll withhold judgment on it for now.

Really? I thought it was perfect.

Not sure how deep I can get into it without spoilers, so I'll spoiler it to be safe:

I think it was the perfect way to show that Aemond is so drunk for power and clout, not to mention being vengeful and hateful, that he'll make actions before he fully thinks them out. He thought he was just fucking with Lucerys. Lucerys, rightfully, thought Aemond was not going to stop until Aemond felt like he could lose something. Thus, after Lucerys attacks Aemond and Vhagar just loses his shit and Aemond is unable to control Vhagar. Remember, Aemond is not nearly as experienced as Lucerys, let alone any other dragon rider, and Vhagar isn't exactly the dragon with training wheels.

At first I thought Lucerys attacked Aemond too but from the recap shows, I'm less sure now. Some have framed it that Lucerys doesn't command his dragon to attack but his dragon did it on his own. The close captions have him saying to his dragon "No Arrax. no Arrax, Serve me." It follows the theme that the dragons are the one actually in control not the riders. Also the scene where Lucerys promise to not attack to Rhaenyra also plays into him not commanding Arrax to attack.

This Ringer video shows the close cap scene in the first minute or so.

Yeah that was my takeaway too. I also watch with CC so I read the line from Lucerys where he said "Serve me"
