I have lost my Semih... [signs in Turkey for next 2+ years]

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

So really is this guy any good at all? I have no expectations.

I will admit I am so dissapointed in Hollins. I see so much athletic potential and don't know how he can't rebound or slam it home all the time

Morpheus must have been some kind of a Captain Obvious alter ego or something.

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

Erden looks like he is very mobile. He also put the ball on the floor without being out of control. Good enough for me to be interested.

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

With the way Sam Sam is playing the couple of games, I would not mind giving him minutes

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

Another plus is he is a legit 7 foot center, who is long also, which can never hurt and which we lack. I want to see him getting some minutes with Samardo being a turnover machine here lately.

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

Samardo has looked horrid since the first couple of games, and Hollins is horrid. Erden needs time, which he will get when he's back in shape and in the flow of things.

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

Erden needs to supplant Samuels and Hollins. I think he will though. During the broadcast last night Carr/McLeod mentioned Scott's fondness for Erden's basketball IQ, of which Samuels and especially Hollins have none of. Semih also has a post game, which Hollins and Samuels again lack. Every time last night when Samuels would get the ball in the post he had absolutely no ability to back down, post up, or face up and shoot. It's been a turnover machine and I was so mad to see Sessions keep doing the same thing every possession giving him the ball on the low block. This problem has plagued him in every game.

You cant teach size

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

I saw something In Austin Carrs blog that mentioned Sam Sam being late and not taking his role seriously. Havent see. This anywhere else. I think it is why he was in the doghouse earlier. I like Samuels, but he needs to sit once Erden is ready. Samuels will be more of an asset once he can play his natural position

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

Semih i think intrigues a lot of the Cavaliers staff with his length and skill-set. I think before the season shakes out IF he can remain healthy, he'll get a shot at rotational minutes. He's got enough talent to at the very least be a backup in the league but he's got to stay away from injuries.

I love Samardo BUT i've got to admit he's been looking rough out there as of late. He appears to be as Byron suggested, a bit out of shape. Maybe "working out" with Baron Davis wasn't the best of plans..... :)

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

Samardo just doesn't do well against teams who bigs with length. He gets lost in the trees against guys like Aldridge and Camby and instead of realizing this he still tries to go over them like he's playing against a Big Baby type. Needs to mentally adjust his game as he's not a good enough athlete to play the same way against everybody.

I could see Erdin getting time because of this, he's got the size to matchup with most everybody in the league (who knows about the talent)

Re: Semih Erden returns to practice

It pretty much says it all about the C position for the Cavs after Varejao that there's some excitement about Semih Erden.

I don't think he's a complete stiff but he also isn't someone I would count on for serious minutes in the long term.

Its hard to tell since he was rusty last night, but he looked like a bull in a china shop from what i saw. But maybe after 3 or 4 weeks of practice he will shore more potential. Problem to me is that he always seems hurt with one type of nagging injury or another.

Not a long term piece imo.

He can't even be considered one as long as he keeps on getting banged up. He does have some skill, i saw it a bit when he was on the Celts BUT from what i saw i just think he's a servicable kind of guy versus a consistent starter talent-wise. He does have a decent physicalness to his game. Take it slowly with him in terms of conditioning and when he's ready, let him roll out there to see if he's worth keeping on the roster. Byron Scott seems interested in him based on of some of the interviews i've seen him talk about Semih.
