If bought-out, Cavs option for McGrady

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No one knows what t-mac has left. He got in a fued with management over in Houston. Do we bring him in for a conversation and a work out? Sure, thats called being a good GM. Do we sign him? Depends on his work out and how the convo went. I am not a t-mac fan what so ever, not even when healthy. That being said, it is Ferry's job to look at all angles, and t-mac is possibly one of those angles.

Exactly! We need to do our due diligence ... TMac could be an absolute steal ..

When has T-Mac ever been a cancer? Adelman essentially blackballed him this year. No one has a right to playing time, but he has a right to be upset.

He even took blame for not doing well in the playoffs. What else can a person do? He seems like a good guy to me.

I don't think T-Mac would have any locker room issues if he signed with us. Everyone thinks he's washed up, and he has something to prove. It if means completely subduing his ego and playing 15-20 minutes a night, I'm sure he'd do so. He can't honestly be expected to play big minutes for the Cavs or the Lakers when he's being signed for the vet minimum...

His bird rights would be useful in a sign and trade, perhaps Bosh refuses to sign with the Raptors but still wants the contract they can offer, NY could resign David Lee (which they might not be able to do to get Bosh via free agency), sign and trade T-Mac for Bosh (who would also be sign and traded). I'd assume NY would have to send some pieces along to make it worthwhile for the Raptors, picks, young talent, etc, but that's all hypothetical anyway...

Yes....McGrady is not the same player he was. At all. I get it.

But the man is still skilled...very skilled. If he could be half of what he was on this team, for cheap, it would be huge.

If he dissapears in the playoffs... who cares? We still have Parker and West. If he works out? Glorious.

If he would actually take the vet minimum, that only means one thing: He needs to win a title.

If he did fine in a work out, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

In the first round of the playoffs

I just don't see our need for a SG that can score anymore. With Mo, LBJ, Tawn, and Shaq, we have PLENTY of scoring. All we need from the 2 is a defender that can hit open shots. We have that in West and AP, even though they are shaky.

well for all the talk about the Magic hitting all those 3s and Howard tearing the Cavs up in the paint if Mo, Delonte, and Z had just hit the shots they had during the regular season the Cavs still win that series vs Orlando. I don't know if McGrady is the answer but you can never have too many guys who can put the ball in the bucket

that is very big. if he wants to make any money this summer he has to prove he can play so if the Cavs did sign him they could be getting a very driven player. seems like a low risk, high reward type move to me

Trade was proposed, this was just on espn

'Fireworks' Between Tellem, Kings If They Don't Deal T-Mac To Knicks

Feb 18, 2010 12:37 PM EST

If the Kings don't trade Tracy McGrady to New York, there could be an intriguing showdown with McGrady’s agent, Arn Tellem.

“If they don’t trade Tracy,” one source involved in the talks said Thursday morning, “there’s going to be some fireworks.”

Tellem is one of the NBA's most influential agents and represents Tyreke Evans.

The Kings were willing to do a deal with the Knicks as trade partners to move McGrady Wednesday night, but league sources have suggested they’ve been less enthusiastic about it on Thursday morning.

If the trade expands to three teams, one official involved in the talks predicted as many as 15 players could be moved.

Rockets give up Landry for Hill and Martin? Pretty sure that's illegal even with consent.

Pretty much what I see in T-Mac. Nothing more, nothing less. The things people say about him being a loser and a cry baby applies only to some players like Sprewell and a really really really really really really bad jump shooter who takes so many really bad shots and only wants fun. You don't have to like the dude but you can't tag him unjustly. Tracy is always a competitor through all those obstacles in his career.

I don't want T-Mac here, that will certainly alter the chemistry
