Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He was average. I will say we don't win the championship without that burst early in the 3rd from JR. We could have fallen down big without him.

That said...where is the no care shooting 3's JR. I mean he's just afraid to let it go. We'll destroy him for missing shots, but at least put it up instead of whatever he's doing now.

Truth is JR is the kind of player that needs his offense going for the rest of his game to follow. The fact he's playing this level of comp and can't score/won't look to score is messing with his head.

He needs to be the 6th man. Get him on the floor when he's not chasing Klay around.

I truly think Korver needs to be the 6th man.. JR is a huge negative right now. But he probably will be the 6th man and hopefully that's what it takes to break him free.

Same crap every year. The year started they're going to let him play a little bit of point guard. Didn't really give him a chance to do that. Then they do what they always do they stick him over in the corner and all he does is pick for other people and rarely shoot the basketball. It's always everybody else before Shump. Last year it was dellavedova and then we start playing Golden State and guess what got to have Shump playing again. This year it's been Korver JR Smith Deron Williams and almost everybody else first. And here we are again and everybody's talking about we need Shump. At the end of the day the problem is Lue is a horseshit coach. Should have been working to develop this kid all year. Instead of just taking three or four shots of game he should have been part of the offense and learn how to take 10 or 12 or 13 so he can help the team when the competition gets tougher. No respect. unfortunately the Cavaliers are getting what they deserve the way they treated this kid. I know I'm a little biased but I think with a decent coach he could be a better player.

As a Knicks fan, I've always had a soft spot for Shumpert and defended him many times on this board. But Shumpert got plenty of minutes this season and an extended opportunity to start. If anything he got too many minutes given his wildly erratic play. His effort this year was as inconsistent as his jumper. The best thing that happened to him was getting benched in game 1 of the playoffs - he has looked like a different player ever since.

I do agree with you that he is critical against Golden State Warriors. He has been the only guy besides LeBron and Love that has shown up so far in the Finals.

That's kind of what happens when you get into a game and start yacking up contested 17 foot pull ups EVERY SINGLE GAME. Only to shoot about 25% on them and watch the rest bang off the back of the rim for just an awful overall possession.

Sorry, but if you watched Shump at all during the regular season you'd know he doesn't deserve any of that shit you're talking about.

He's athletic as shit, so we need him to match Golden State's freakish athleticism and length. That's the bottom line.

I disagree. I think he has been used completely wrong and every year we go through the same thing. And every year were right back to Iman Shumpert is an extremely important part of this basketball team to win a championship. So maybe they ought to learn to put up with some of his erratic play so he can learn to not be erratic. I've seen many games were Kyrie just keeps on chucking them up and he just keeps on playing. I've seen Jr go to 2 for 13 and the next game he just keeps on shooting and getting playing time. I believe if Lue would give him any role in the offense during the season he would have been a much better player during the season too. Anyway isn't it funny how it always comes down to Iman Shumpert at the end of the year in the playoffs.

Like Jar Jar Binks, Iman Shumpert is the key to all of this.

No, it's not. It's actually very sad and speaks a lot about our roster.

Look I am the guy out on the limb backing Shump. I get that, but at least he is one of the few guys that looks competitive and plays with energy and emotion. If he takes 10 shots he might make 1, but I'm hoping he can bring that toughness and energy and make a difference and hit some shots. Is there really a better option?

Yes. In fact, I think Tristan Thompson and Dahntay Jones firing up long twos might be the only worse options.

Honestly I'd rather JR be in there with shump, korver, bron, and love. So bron won't have to guard Durant and expend all that energy on defense. Especially if kyrie is a no show, I'd rather lessen brons initial workload on defense so he can carry these bums.

Look, I liked Shumpert's energy on D last game, and he should get minutes, but acting like he is the savior of the season is a bit much. He can't guard Durant either. No one on the Cavs can. I just wish someone would tell him never to shoot the ball if he has to dribble first. Only catch and shoot.

Thats the point.
Why have LeBron sweating up a storm when Durant's putting up 10 points in the 1st Qrt anyway?

Put Shump on him and hope KD misses. At least LeBron's fresher and can roam.

Everyone in the world knows this is the move we need to make. Except our coach of course.
