Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Defending Shump for all those months when everyone else hated him is paying off finally!!

(I still kinda gave up on him somewhat in the last few weeks when things got really bad lol...)

I will die on this damn hill.

I will continue to beat the drum to trade him in the offseason.

Trade him for what exactly, though?

what exactly are you looking for in a trade for Shump?

He's back to being an elite 3&D guy again.

I think you have to keep him. Even with how shaky he is in the regular season, if you know you're going to get this effort in the playoffs, you have to. Right?

Shump's defense:

Overall: 32.7 DFG%, opponents usually shoot 46%, -13.3%
Threes: 25 DFG%, opponents usually shoot 38.1%, -13.1%
Twos: 35.9 DFG%, opponents usually shoot 49.9%, -14%
<6ft: 37.5 DFG%, opponents usually shoot 58.5%, -21%
<10ft: 35.7 DFG%, opponents usually shoot 55.1%, -19.3%

Shump's shooting:

Catch and shoot threes: 54.5%
Wide open threes: 75%
Open threes: 50%

This is the Shump we wanted to see all year.

I agree. Because there's no way you're getting anything BETTER for next years playoff run, no matter how much better it may be in the regular season. Plus you'd probably have to come off an asset on top of it...

Shump is here to stay most likely. This playoff run so far has justified every dollar we've paid him this season.

I know it sucks for some on this board to hear since he's everyones favorite whipping boy...

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree. He, more than anyone, has been a completely different player in the postseason. He went from completely and utterly useless to an elite 3&D player. Which is incredible.

You would like to see SOME effort from a ROLE PLAYER in the regular season, but...oh well.

But that's the thing, he went through stretches where he played out of his mind. He also went through stretches where he couldn't do anything. That's pretty much been his m.o. his whole career.

He is consistently up this game during the playoffs which is not a common thing. His inability to miss a three in the playoffs is pretty incredible and if he can do that in the finals it will be invaluable.

I don't think 10 million bucks gets you a good replacement.

From February on he was awful.

Before then, he was good.

Actually, he was better offensively from 3-point range before February but his defense was absolutely horrendous.

At no points of the regular season would I characterize Shumpert as playing good basketball.

I'm glad he is now.

However, this chill mode we like to do is frustrating. I'm cool with LeBron doing it because we need him in the playoffs and he's 32 years old.

For us to remain competitive and play decent regular season basketball, it's dudes like Shumpert--young and your 7-8 man--who must bring it every night so LeBron actually CAN rest. Instead, Shumpert is the first one to slack.

He's going to get looks against GS- this is when he's going to show his worth (or non worth).
I truly believe JR and Shump are going to have to come up huge in the Finals- going to need double digit points from one of them a game (not including Korver).

Oh you guys.

How many peaks and valleys before we realize there's a valley at the end of this peak.

It starts in the finals.
