Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’m not getting the hate for Shump last night. He made some stupid plays but he was a very active on defense. He was a hound the 1st qtr. then everything went to shit and he reverted to making bad passes. He shouldn’t be playing PG to begin with though. That’s on lue. He’s encouraging him to be aggressive.

There’s really not any minutes for Shump besides PG minutes. He can usually at least get the ball up the floor.

I’m fine with his current role. And honestly would rather have him playing backup PG minutes next to Wade instead of Rose. At least Shump can sometimes shoot the 3 and defend 3 positions, and Wade should be able to keep him from doing too much stupid shit on the court.

I agree with this. Shump fits our starting lineup a lot more than rose and wade but it’s still not a good role for him. It’s just the best we can do right now with IT gone. It’s too bad we can’t trust Lebron to not be a turnover machine and play PG himself.

LeBron is playing PG. and we can trust him:

But at the end of the day if you can get by without forcing him to dribble the ball up and down the court for 36 minutes one November, you do what you need to do. Should have IT sooner rather than later at his point. Rotations should settle nicely with him playing ...biggest issue will be Rose...Wade is obviously the better player and they can’t both share a second unit IMO. (All it would do is take shots from Korver which is bad)

I thought Rose/Wade played really well together in the preseason. Its the regular season though so we don't want to burn out 37 year old Kyle Korver either. He's had to bail us out far more than he should have too this early in the season. Some nights it will be best if he is just the floor spacer.

Also some nights Wade just isn't going to have it and we need somebody capable of putting the ball on the floor. We're most dangerous when we have at least 3 guys capable of that. Having 4 will make us more dangerous.

Its one of the biggest benefits the Warriors have going. They've got multiple guys that can take people off the dribble.

I like what Shump's doing now, but once IT comes back he won't be as needed imo.

Besides this previous game, I thought he did a good enough job of staying within himself. He defended much better than he has last year. His jump shot comes and goes (mostly just goes now from deep) but he is shooting a career high 2pt FG%. The irony of it all was him complaining about how a lot of NBA players aren't focused on basketball or conditioning, yet he's out here regressing while being distracted (VHI reality show coming up called 'Teyana & Iman'...I'm dead serious). Two reality TV stars has to be an NBA first, no coincidence it involves the the two players that frustrate Cavs fans the most.

The new road trippin with shump is pretty good. Highly recommended

Shumpert hounding PG's defensively and playing the passing lanes so aggressively the last few games is sort of refreshing...really elevates the whole team. He is really busting his ass out there lately as a starter.

Problem is:

a) Just a matter of time before he gets hurt again
b) He will probably regress once Rose or IT comes back and his role gets reduced
c) You can't REALLY trust him in the playoffs in tight moments because he has a tendency to do stupid shit on offense at the worst times

So I'm still in the trade him camp, but when he plays well...it makes you at least think about it

Well the good news is we don't have to worry about him playing.
That bad is that no one is going to take him now. RIP trade talks.
Either way, hope you make a speedy recovery Chumpert. Just....take your time it's okay if you miss a few weeks. Or months.

He just keeps finding new ways to be useless. This year he was actually playing well, so boom, he blows out his knee. Maybe he'll come back by the playoffs but he'll be out of shape.

This is who he is - just to bad that trade with Houston never went thru this summer.
