Indians Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Smyly is going to Tampa per Heyman

Well holy shit, I think we got a better package in LaPorta and Brantley for CC then what Rays got for Price.

I really think Drew Smyly will eventually become an ace - probably not on David Price's level, though. Glad to see him out of the division.

Well, it did turn out good. We made the playoffs last season, and the result of this season has yet to be determined.

Oh please, with Bourn constant trips to the DL and declining speed, you can't expect this to be good in the end. Some will say we lucked out last year.

Winning 10 straight to make the playoffs is not luck. It's skill.

I totally understand the trades we made.

Having said that, this last minute Price deal gives casual Cleveland fans all the ammo they need to bitch about the Dolans etc.

Social media is going to be ugly for awhile.

Any 10 game winning streak involves a considerable amount of luck. And our September strength of schedule was laughable last year.

Sure 10 wins is done by skill, but Astros, WhiteSox, and Twins are luck'ing out.

Good move by the Tigers to get a top quality starter. Move they almost needed to make, seeing as Scherzer is gone in the offseason and Verlander has gone south rapidly. Rajai Davis is now their starting CFer, which I kind of like. I find the wailing and gnashing of teeth to be kind of funny, though. Tribe was not/is not going to get into serious contention with one trade- even if it returned David Price- and the two guys dealt were not exactly helping the cause. Surprised they didn't get any pitching in return, however, as it seems this club usually seeks out one or two in these kinds of deals.

I didn't know we were playing AAA teams. Those teams came out ready to play, and ready to play spoiler if necessary.

My problem with this situation is the fact that we took steps backwards while the team we are chasing took a giant leap forward. I know Cabby and Masterson weren't contributing but they were great guys in the clubhouse, that can kill a struggling team even more.

It all balanced out throughout the year. You can't criticize a weak September schedule without admitting that we played a very tough schedule before that while managing to stay in the race.

It doesn't even matter anymore because the guy that shut us down is now a Tiger, and we mine as well start looking towards pitchers and catchers reporting to have new hope.

Just going to put this out there, but with Cleveland sports booming, do the Indians realize that they're about to become completely irellevant?

I was thinking this same thing and it made me really sad .... if the Browns actually turn it around, damn. Poor Tribe. It's a little sad but what can you do?
