IT as a free agent or not a free agent does even really matter any more. He may never be the same again. So if this trade falls through the Celtics are going to be a 4th or 5th seed next season-at best.

Celtics are fucked either way. If the deal gets through Ainge sells the family farm for Irving. If it gets voided he is stuck with a seriously injured 29 years old pg on an expiring contract, a disgruntled Crowder who has to be traded for peanuts and Gordon Hayward who left a good situation in Utah to join a rebuilding team for the next five years. I always knew Ainge will play himself in the end, but it's really satisfying he did it against the Cavs FO.

Honestly depending on what the Cavs demand on top of everything else it might make sense for Ainge to just swallow his pride and nix the deal. Paying a disgruntled IT to not play sucks, but we're all acting like the Celtics have zero ways of improving their team beyond trading for Kyrie.

They can easily flip Crowder and several of their remaining assets for a guy like Bledsoe vs. gutting their war chest to send him here.

Altman asking for a pick and/or a guy like Smart is conciliatory, but anything else would just be foolish on their part.

Of course they can improve in other ways, but it would be insanely difficult and they'll bleed assets. They gave up Bradley to sign Hayward. To sign Bledsoe who's on a 15 million dollar contract they need to add another player or two to send with Crowder and you best believe PHO will want some of them lesser picks. On top of that Bledsoe isn't the player IT was for them last year neither in production or presence and leadership. They lose depth, leadership, assets and team chemistry is ruined. They regress all over the place.

then the Cavs would be absolute fools to not trade Kyrie and maybe Shumpert for that. That is a better haul for the Cavs. Koby should be going for the throat right now if the news about IT never being the same is legit.

I do that trade, but only because you are substituting 2 players and a pick for IT. I am hesitant to do it for ONE player and a pick, and I DEFINITELY don't do it, if they just substitute a pick for IT.

I was just think IT for Beverley+filler. The Celtics give us a first rounder as additional compensation. This gives us the our own first rounder and whatever first rounder the Celtics give us to make another trade to upgrade the roster. This would probably be a real good player if they command two first round picks. We have the Brooklyn pick in our back pocket if someone really good comes available.
 
So from what I've what I've read he only just passed his physical but we believe they withheld information?

Also I don't want Marcus smart. He's a very good role player but meh. Not ideal or many reasons

If IT's hip is messed up, the Celtics won't get ANYTHING for him.

I certainly hope WE don't trade for him.

I would never trust that hip, or the Celtics, again. I either want A LOT more from the Celtics, or to look into other deals.

Is there a deal that the Clips would do with us that makes sense? Just Beverly and DeAndre wouldn't be enough, right?

I mean it would be a collective group...Love can...Rose avg 18 last year and Crowder 14-15.. I think Brown is capable of avg that this year as well
 
Looking back the way Ainge handled this is odd. Hmedi knew IT was injured but has kind of backed himself in the corner with comments that he has made. I don't know if he thinks he can pull one over on the rookie GM but it may end up backfiring. I can be IT wouldn't be so happy with management on a return and other teams wouldn't be in a rush to trade for him after he failed a physical for the Cavs.

I would imagine medical information provided to the Cavs lead to believe he'd be ready by camp or shortly after. In doing their own checks it's probably much further into the season or requires surgery and starting from square one.
