Jacoby Brissett: Class Act

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've been saying it all year, but Jacoby doesn't even crack the top 5 on list of problems with this team. He has done mostly what has been asked of him and then some.

He's exceeded my expectations. That's what is so frustrating - being 2-5 with god awful QB play would be one thing given the circumstances. But he's played well enough for us to have at least 4 wins by now.

Dobbs. Not that I expect him to play better but he was fun in the preseason..... I've been done watching until December 4th unless something new peaks my interest.
I'm not alone
Just because you're checked out doesn't mean benching Brissett for Josh Dobbs isn't an awful take.

Brissett played well today. He hit some throws that in past games he missed badly on.

I don't blame him for the fact that the play caller puts too much responsibility on him in high leverage situations. I think he would be great if he was protected more, allowed to be more of a game manager. I think with Jacoby behind center we should be slightly run heavy, and we should use it more in key situations. I think we should take points when they are there and be a bit less aggressive with the passing game. Save that for when we get Watson back.

We had 2 drives that were close to perfect in balance, and both of them had lots of runs mixed in with the passes, making both more effective. We scored touchdowns on both of them. There were some drives where we abandoned the run and we actually went backwards, at times putting us out of FG range. IMO that's not smart and it's not playing to win.

He’s in the top 5 problems without question.

Even if he’s done mostly what’s asked of him (and I’d say this is true only in a couple of games, less so with his overall body of work), the fact that they can only ask him to do certain things in the first place is a top 5 problem for this team.

I think it's fair to say that Brissett has played well for a backup and to say that Brissett is a problem.

Watson is supposed to be the Flex Tape meme to all of our problems. Defense looks shitty? Watson should be able to score 40 with relative ease. Can't run the ball against stacked boxes? Watson over the top to someone with good success. Need a 2 minute drive? Watson should have some magic.

Brissett has played reasonably well, but ultimately he's not been great, and that's what wins in the NFL most of the time.

"certain things"?

they've completely opened up the passing offense and neglected the running game....

no huddle plays are up 150% y/y

Seven games into the 22' season mirrors the second half of the 21'season, thats on coaching

Watson tried that experiment with Houston, it doesn't work.....

The Browns are 4th in the league in rushing attempts and all three teams ahead of them (Giants, Falcons and Eagles) play a QB who has anywhere from 20-50 more carries than Brissett.

When you narrow it down to rush attempts by running backs only, the Browns are the No. 1 team rush attempt team in the NFL by a mile.

This talking point that the Browns aren't running the ball enough is just not accurate and needs to end ASAP.

They run the ball traditionally more than any other team in the sport right now.
