Allen on former Cavs assistant coach Brett Brielmaier, who coached him when he first came to the Cavs:

With him, I was trying to build a foundation. For a house, you have to build a sturdy foundation for it to last and now I get to build the house. I get to figure out my passing game. I get to figure out my mid-range game. Become a complete player.

We're watching Allen do a lot more passing and mid-range shooting than ever before. This is his seventh season in the NBA and I assumed after last year that he was maxed out. Now I don't think so. The injuries to Mobley and Garland have allowed him to play away from the basket when he can handle the ball more, get more assist opportunities, and shoot more mid-range shots. He is really "becoming a complete player" whereas up until this year he was limited to defense, rebounding, and dunking lobs.

Pretty exciting stuff, watching him build his house from the foundation up.

Allen is averaging 3.0 assists this year. His career average is 1.5. His shooting on short mid-range shots (4-14 feet) is 55%, up from 49% last year and 44% the two years before that. His long mid-range shooting (14 feet to the 3-point line) is 63%, up from 32% last year.

If he can continue to hit 55-63% of those jumpers from the free throw line and the elbows, or even a step behind the line, he's going to be an offensive force. He'll also draw the opposing center away from the rim opening up the baseline for cuts to the hoop by Mobley and others, with Allen dishing out the assist.

Here's another Jarrett Allen video. With Donovan.

I've been telling you all for months Allen is legit.

Random thing I noticed, he has matched last season with 113 assists this season, which is the most in a season in his career. He has 39 games to record his record breaking 114th assist in a season

Trade him NOW !!!

Value will never be higher…

Would be such a shame if he isn't an all-star.

Magnificent defensive performance from Allen tonight in maybe the best Cavs win this season. Allen may not make the all-star team, but he has been every bit of an all-star player this year.

Allen has been by far his best season in his career. Him getting involved offensively has changed his game dramatically. Very happy for him.

On side note he’s been practicing a lot of shots outside. Continues to make them and you see it goes in during the games.

His rebounding is aggressive. He plays with physicality and his vision and IQ has been great.

Well done Allen

Big fella is on the injury list with an "illness."

Donovan is our best player, but Allen might be our MVP.

No, Mitchell is our MVP too....but if we had a co-MVP it would then be Allen.

Both have been incredible over the last 1.5 months.
