Jim Tressel?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I, from what I've been told, believe that if Tressel were offered the Browns job, he'd take it in a heartbeat. No question about it.

He grew up in Berea, loved (and still loves) the Browns and face it......OSU is great, but it's not the NFL.

He has stated that "OSU is his dream job" but I think the Browns head coaching job would be his "pipe dream job." Face it, what would your goal have been if you were coaching YSU?

The NFL could be calling.....and I'd bet he would answer.

Say he wins it all this year again......that's 2 National Championships in 6 years, 5 of 6 in the bowls and against Michigan....I think his legacy is safe.

He could stay at OSU for another 10 years and not put together a better team than he has right now this year......even if he were to win it all another time or two.

This opportunity will only come once, and this is the time.

And, don't worry about OSU.....it's OHIO STATE. Hence, if he leaves, they'll get the best possible candidate out there - even from other schools. OSU will never be bad - we have what, one season of more than 3 losses each decade?

OSU will never be bad, relative to the average college football program, or even the above average program; however, the standard for OSU football is not to just have winning seasons. The goal EVERY year is national title. Obviously you can't reach that goal every year, but you want to at least be a contender every year, and actually win at least a couple times each decade (along with as many conference titles as you can possibly get). With JT, Ohio State has that. He has a system in place for perpetual success. Will Ohjio State have that with the next coach? That is an unknown.

Great programs can fall to just above average programs. I don't want to see Ohio State become the next Notre Dame: One day they're on top of the world. The next they haven't won a bowl game in 20 years.

I can understand why JT would have the desire to prove himself at the next level, he's a competitor, but there is reason to be seriously depressed if your a Buckeye fan and this comes to pass.
