I haven't read it, but if you have then you know that Paul Brown started both Ohio NFL teams, and won the Super bowl with one, and the equivalent of the Super Bowl a few times over with the other. How in the world is Tressel suppose to top that in the annals of Ohio Sports history?

Oh, and he won the national title with Ohio State in just his second year there, so JT doesn't even have that on him.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, and I love JT as much as the next guy, but I'm having a hard time seeing how he can accomplish more than Paul Brown.

I know of all of that style, it was discussed in the book I mentioned. Also I never said that Tressel would be a better coach than Brown or that he would do more for football than Brown did.

IF he came to the Browns and some how won a super bowl then I would probaly rank him at the top. Anyone who can bring a championship to the Browns has to use some miracles to do it.

The Browns weren't the Browns until Paul Brown was coaching them. Plus, I believe he was basically the GM back then, in addition to being the HC. That's good enough for me to be considered the guy who started them.

I hate to re-hash this old thread but listen to Tony Grossi's podcast today about the Browns. He says "Tressel would be interested in coming back to Berea and coaching the Cleveland Browns". I don't know how true any of this is but I'll put it out there:

Grossi does make a good point about this though. If the Browns really have received cancellation notices from people who own their corporate seats, they have to do something. Money talks and they have to try to restore some credibility to the fan base. And who would bring more credibility to people around here than Tressel? I know it is far-fetched but I'm just saying it makes sense for the Browns to consider it.

I'm glad they are receiving all this negative backlash from fans and corporate partners. Something has to change around here. Romeo is a nice guy but he is obviously the logical choice to be the first one to get the axe.

The Plain Dealer talked about how Jim Tressel that he would only coach for the Cleveland Browns if he coached for any NFL team. Now comes to the conclusion. If OSU wins the title (which is most likely) then I could see Tressel quitting on top and trying something higher and harder. So if the Browns continue to play like they have been. Do you think that Tressel has a chance to be the Browns coach next year and that Romeo will be fired? I'm skepitcal about the whole thing right now.

I agree, but the Browns are concerned about losing their fan base. As incredibly impossible a feat as that would be, a couple more seasons like this out of the Browns might do it. I'm not saying that approaching Tressel would be the right move, I'm just saying that PR-wise it may be their only move.

i just think its not as big of a sure shot as some would think, some guys are amazing college coaches but poor to decent NFL coaches, some NFL coaches are decent but amazing College coaches for example Pete Carroll of USC. im just saying its not a sure shot to getting a few more W's.
