Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He was supposed to get them on Thursday, but didn't.

I'm reading about as much into that as I am this, which is to say I'm not reading into it at all.

Why? Because I'm not a moron.

dihs it out but cant take it .. completely understandable.

Manziel getting 1st team reps was early and the reports were that the browns would be putting him on first team sooner than expected . not specifically thursday.

What this does do is ensure Manziel will be starting one of the first two preseason games and thats significant.

so you are saying that Johnny's manziels off field antics have more impact than his on field ones?

Unofficial 11on11 so far: Manziel with ones, 1-of-7 with 1 INT. Hoyer with twos, 4-of-8. #Browns

I'm not sure why you decided to wake up today and decided to troll the Manziel thread, but I really wish you'd stop.

Nobody said how he performs in practice isn't significant.

You're welcome to rant about how significant his first team reps are, despite the team already mentioning that this was going to happen. You're welcome to form baseless speculation about who will start preseason games (also mostly irrelevant) by reading too much into today's reps.

But reading that much into it, and I'm sorry for putting it so bluntly, is retarded.

There is already a pre-disposed plan in place here by the coaching staff to split up the reps and have an open competition.

Pretending you learned something about how the coaching staff feels about the two quarterbacks at this point is just poorly thought out speculation.

Current verdict: Both have sucked in different ways so far. Next step is figuring out who sucks the least.

Interesting to see that Pettine admitted that. But more importantly:

WTF is that girl's name???! It literally looks like someone smashed their head against the keyboard. Woj is sitting there like "Damn that's one confusing ass name."

My take is that we all know the defense is far ahead of the offense, and should be. There is more money and assets invested in the defense and the Browns have a defensive coach. The Hoyer doubts will always be there since people have pegged him as a career backup. IMO, being a backup to Tom Brady has proven that you are in fact interning as a future starter, but I understand the hesitancy to anoint him a starter. Manziel is getting reps with the first team and it's pretty apparent that the coaches want to get him on the field at times this year... it is also clear to me that he hasn't been polished enough to be a full time starter from even the most optimistic the reports we are hearing.

We could be talking about the next Rohan Davey.

It just seems like Pettine is giving Hoyer every opportunity to seize the position and he just isn't doing it

Another year of shit offense in our future I imagine.

The stars would have to align in some once-a-millennium phenomenon stroke of luck for the Browns' offense to be good. Hopefully the defense is top 10. It probably should be given the talent. But, the worst receiving corps in the league without Gordon and a mediocre at best Hoyer/Manziel tandem is going to be ugly. I guess the running game should be improved from non-existent to decent?

6-10 here we come!

The only thing which could give this team a rise to mediocrity this season would be the emergence of a powerful running game.

Everything I see from Terrence West I like. The backfield duo of he and Tate, with the potential emergence of someone like Crowell could mean the Browns could pound away and play ball control behind a solid defense to win some games.

If such a case arises, I'd almost rather see Manziel starting in hopes of opening up the running game more with the threat of a mobile QB.

Neither of these guys is going to be distributing the football with any sort of higher level efficiency, IMO.
