Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you are in for substance abuse, the desired path is no drugs or alcohol ever. Not socially, not a beer here or there. Nothing.

If Johnny isn't going to party anymore then what is his appeal?

We all know a relapse story is almost inevitable here...right?

I mean, I hope it doesn't and all. But you just know this is going to happen given Manziel's circle and who he associates with.

Do we know he went straight back to them? I thought he broke it off with that golddigger of a girlfriend?

Only in America is this even an idea. The 12 step program is a joke with less than a 5% success rate. No idea why we keep up this myth that it's the only way to fix addiction.

Are you aware of anything with a better than 5% success rate? I'm not being facetious. Maybe they use it so much because it's the only thing that has any type of yield of success. At this time, anyways.

Serious question - when you guys make these jokes do you still get big belly laughs or is it more of a soft chuckle?

I'll answer you seriously. I'm not a big laugher, especially not at my own jokes.

But my statement was pretty legitimate in my opinion. The allure of Johnny to his fans was the "swag", the celebrity friends, the party animal persona, and the ridiculousness of his unconventional play.

I never saw an NFL skill set but always found his off field behavior to be funny and entertaining. Mostly because I didn't feel it was a real issue and I could relate to a lot of the stupid shit he did from my college days. So at least to me, I don't see any reason to give Johnny the time of day anymore. Now he's supposed to be uninteresting off the field and he's a non factor on it. So what's there to talk about?

To be clear, if his lifestyle was hurting him or his loved ones I am very happy for him that he's gotten it straightened out. I just don't see how I'm supposed to care about this dude now that he's a shitty QB and not even a TMZ headline anymore. :conf (8):

Yeah, look at most of Europe if you want effective addiction treatments that don't involve submitting yourself to a Christian God.

The idea that telling an addict that they can't change without the power of God is foolish, and I'm convinced is 90% of the reason it fails.

When you tell a person how worthless they are, when they're already feeling worthless because of the addiction, you aren't creating a healthy psyche.

Looked like her in that photo at the Rangers game

That's not good. She seems like nothing but bad news to me.

Fair enough. I've never gotten much from the world of documenting celebrity follies, mainly because it allows the scum of the earth to earn a living.

My knock on Manziel was 2 fold...

If he played like Johnny Football, he was going to be killed and ultimately it would never be successful in the NFL

If he played like John Manziel and ditch the Johnny Football thing resigning himself to play within a system he would lose his edge and that wouldn't work either. He would have to fall back on his football skills of height, weight, speed, accuracy, running an offense that isn't JFF-centric, reading a defense, etc.

Now that we saw Johnny Football in a Browns uni, I'm curious to see if a neutered Manziel appears and if so, if it's even remotely effective.

I'm not big on laughing at the misfortune of Manziel.

I relish in the gangs of ardent Manziel supporters who bought so wholly into his persona and believed without question that he was the next great phenom in football.

It's those people who I truly enjoy after seeing Manziel crash so predictably.

I think he can still be Johnny Football on the field without being Johnny Football off the field. Whether that can be an effective NFL player remains to be seen. I don't think putting him in a box will be effective either as we saw at the end of the season.

So most likely in the end guys like b00bie will be right. I'm just of the opinion that we should spend some time finding out if he could possibly succeed at this level.
